someone explain the closing of x to me

ok it's closed now? why? what happened?
Well, essentially when theres a fatality on a roller coaster due to mechanical failure they close the ride until the issue can be resolved. The problem has to do with shearing forces involving the guaging among the 4 rails due to the extreme changes in temperature the track is subjected to in this climate. Arrow used faulty steel to construct X with from a supplier they dont usually do buisness with because of the time frame six flags gave them to complete the project. This steel manufacturer is longer in business. They are deciding whether they have to refabricate the entire track system or simply scrap the project due to the amount of material and time needed to complete the project.

Since there was never a fatality on X, what on Earth does this have to do with answering the question?

I never said anything about there being a fatality on x

--Ok...color me confused....but you did say fatality in your first post Will...

Also note, that I am not even touching the rest of your description of the problem and/or solution because a) they are so far from reality and b) the park has not officially released the cause of the problem. But from general reports, the problems are reportedly with the trains, not the ride structure itself...

weird, i have never heard of that theory before! i normally hear that there was a problem with the trains which caused stress fractures!

The main problem is with the trains, but the trains have caused a bit of damage to the track/structure as well. No injuries were reported before the ride's closure. It's expected to be up and running again soon.

Whats up with willthethrill's signature?

yeah, i was just trying to see if i could come up with a decent sounding reason for the problem. I was trying to illustrate in a less than articulate manner, that there really is no answer to his question, and that no one really knows for sure. My post was malarkey, more of an experiment as to see if i were creative enough to produce a convincing "explanation". My sig is just a pleasant little something Kick The Sky wrote about me. I cant even remember what the topic was...I probably said Great America isnt all that great or something.

Will... go away. God I hate when people make stuff up. You don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about.

X originally had a delayed opening in that they weren't happy with the smoothness sitting in the outside seats. Arrow's president said this to us at IAAPA last fall. The problem apparently came back in some form and that's what they're working on now. While there is apparently some legal nonsense going on, engineers from Six Flags and Arrow are doing their best to correct the problem.
