Some advice on IOA downtime and hours, please?

Howdy...

So the lovely Ms. Kpjb and I are thinking of driving down to hit IOA, and some other fun places in January. So I'm searching Universal's official site, and the park hours page only includes hours from June through December.

Then when I go to the plan a trip/hotel/etc. page, the only arrival dates options are through the end of October. Does noboby plan ahead?

So I'm searching through some unofficial sites, thanks to the convenient and informative CB Parks page, and on one of the sites it states that Dueling Dragons refurbishment has been postponed until the beginning of next year.

Anywho, to make a long post even longer... my questions are: Does anyone know of IOA's operating schedule for January? Also, is there any official way to find out if any rides are planned for scheduled downtime? If I drive 18 hours, I wouldn't want the place to be open for 5 hours a day with the signature attraction closed.

Thanks.

Call IOA and ask when what their hours are and when specific rides are scheduled for rehab. They're usually happy to give out that information and it was a lifesaver before our January 2002 Florida trip.

Really? I honestly didn't think they'd say if a specific ride would be down. I'd just expect the typical drone of "certain attractions may or may not be available due to weather or mechanical problems" spiel.

I'll have to try that.

I agree. Give them a call. If they're anything like Disney (with whom they compete directly with and often try to emulate), they have a very good and well informed guest realations staff.

And if you could post back what you find out - I'd love to know.
