SoCal Park Distances

How far is KBF from LA?  How far is SFMM from LA?  How far is SFMM from KBF?

THANKS!!!!!

-----------------

KBF is in Buena Park, near Anaheim. It IS in the Metro LA Area. It is about 30 minutes from LAX (pending traffic).

SFMM is about 10 miles North of Hollywood. It is about 45 minutes from LAX.

KBF to SFMM is about an hour drive. Disneyland is about 5 miles from KBF.

Be careful when gauging distances/times.  Based on his own accounts, LoadedG travels pretty fast, even when his Giovanola is in the shop...LOL.

Both parks reside within or on the border of the Los Angeles Metro County. A drive from Knott's to Magic Mountain without stop would be around an average of 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Hey, Im planing on taking Greyhound to SFMM in Feb. What would be the closest stop to MM to get off at?

Sorry but there is no Greyhound stop in Santa Clarita/Valencia/Newhall what ever you want to call it.  The only way to get to SFMM through public trans is the Metrolink, you can take the train into Newhall. Get off the train and catch a bus to the Mall(transit center), then from there you catch a bus to SFMM, it let's you off right infront of X..........oh what a beautiful sight.

Or You can catch the train to Santa Clarita (Weekdays only) get off ,then catch a bus that takes you to the SFMM employees enterance on the backside of the park. The problem with that is ,if the security guy there is doing his job lol ,he will not let you walk through the employee side to get to the park. You'll end up having to walk all the way around the park, to where you would of got off the bus at anyways if you had of gotten off at Newhall and my god talk about a long walk.

So your best bet is to take the Metro get off at the Newhall station and have yourself a great time. Also you will have to leave the park at around 6:30 to make it back to the train station for the last train. You could probably leave alittle later but I wouldn't chance it. I know that sucks but unless you plan on staying all night at a motel you will be stuck like a truck if you DON'T MAKE THE LAST TRAIN!!!!!!!!

SFMM is in the middle of nowhere and a very expensive little town surrounding it, so if you get stuck out there be prepared to cough of some major cash for a motel room or a cab into Downtown LA.

The Greyhound does stop in San Fernando Valley, about 15 minutes from SFMM. You can rent a car, or take a cab which will run you about $25.00. My friends have done it and it works for them.

Well I'm just going by what the Greyhound person told me., and that was that I would have to get off in LA or at another stop that was past SFMM I can't remember the stop. That is why I take the Metrolink, Also I have rode the Greyhound up to Bakerfield, Tracey and Stockton to see family and we never stoped anywhere by SFMM, we passed by it ,but didn't stop anywhere in that area. If this is a new stop that they just started stopping at ,then I can see why I don't know anything about it. Also The Metrolink is way cheaper and it takes less time then any bus.

Is Disneyland worth while?

If you're going strictly for coasters, I don't think it is worth the money. However, if you are going to go on all the other rides, act like a kid, and just have fun, I think Disneyland truly is one of the happiest places on earth. Matterhorn, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain aren't amazing or extreme, but they are a load of FUN. Especially with the insanely great theming on all. Also make sure you don't miss Indiana Jones or the haunted mansion. If you like theming and dark rides as well, then I'd say go for sure.

How close is DCA to all the other parks (KBF SFMM DL)?
And while all the SoCal experts are fielding questions:  Is it possible to do DCA and DL in one day?  I'm going out to LA in early February, and would like to get to both, but only have one free day on my schedule.

Thanks.

Chris:

It is possible to do both parks in one day if you're just going to do coasters and "thrill" rides.  However, it would be very expensive as they don't have a one-day park hopper ticket.  The parks are adjacent to each other but do have completely separate entrances.  You would have to pay for admission to both parks - $43.00 each.  They're running a Southern California residents special right now - just $33.00 for each park.  To really enjoy the ambiance and fun of Disneyland, I would recommend a full day there.  At DCA, if the lines aren't long, you could do the whole park in about 6 hours.

Rollercoaster00 - ever heard of Mapquest?  You can easily get distances from park to park there.  I'm not trying to be a jerk, it just amazes me how some people who can use the internet to check Coasterbuzz can't use it to find easy answers to easy questions.

Chris - IMHO its impossible to just do *all* of Disneyland in one day, let alone both parks.  However if you're only going to hit the main attractions at Disneyland [the coasters, Indy, Mansion, Pirates] and go on a day when both parks are open late then it would be possible to hit the "E-ticket" attractions at both parks.

DCA is right across the street from Disneyland. If you go on a weekday you should have no trouble getting through both parks, especially if you are somewhat familiar with Disneyland and what you want to do while there. If your trip is on a weekend, then I wouldnt count on it.

If you've never been to Disneyland, you MUST go. I dont make it a point to go often, but every 5years or so (I'm due). Disneyland has quite a bit to do, although most are not THRILLING they are still fun and interesting. DO NOT miss Pirates of the Carribean. The artificial sky still blows me away to this day, and I cant understand why it hasnt been duplicated for another ride. I have always wanted to eat in the "outside" restaurant inside Pirates of the Carribean, but nobody else ever does. :(

Rollergator---thx for the laugh, nice to know somebody's been paying attention to my other posts. That's why I added the "pending traffic" disclaimer this time. I hope to be trading in my Giovanola in for an Arrow4D soon :)

Note that my estimates are purely off the top of my head and not actual distances and times, but are relatively close (pending traffic).

LoadedG - I've eaten at Blue Bayou...its wonderful!  You have to make reservations very early in the day.  In fact its usually one of the first things I do when I get to the park.  Getting a table at water's edge is tough...waits will be longer, but if you can get it its worth it.
Oh, I want to eat there SO bad! But they're always booked. :(
-----------------
Have you ever considered that it may not be the park that's the problem, but YOU???
Thanks for the tips.  I figured it would be pushing it to try to get in both parks in one day, but I really can't free up another day.  I may still try to get in both of them somehow, but will probably make Disneyland the priority.

If you go on a weekday in Feb.the crowds should be very minimal.  DL is open 9-8 and DCA is open 10-6. DL shouldnt be a problem to hit most of the rides, and Blue Bayou will not have much of a wait  ;)   You will get on most of the rides at DCA with the exception of the movie type attractions, as those tend to eat up time. But if things are planned right, seeing the majority of both parks shouldnt be a problem. Email me and let me know about what day you will be here, and I can help you out more with info and admission   ;)
