SOB will reopen Saturday, park says

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

After the fiasco that was last weekend's closure of their new ride, Paramount's Kings Island says Son of Beast will reopen on Saturday.

Get the scoop in The Enquirer.

When it runs successfully 10 straight times, with people on the trains, I might just believe this news...
As to how excited I am to ride it, it is totally reversed that PKI is doing this. Make sure the darn thing is running properly before the "Big" opening. I know it's a new ride, but MF has been running for weeks with twice the testing that SOB has done, before the opening. Yes, last weeks disaster left a horrible, lime juice taste in my mouth.

There's nothing like a woodie...
The Enquire still thinks they have 13 roller coasters. THEY HAVE 12 COASTERS! Sheesh! Someone needs to tell the Enquire that the Racer is one coaster. Any way I'm going to try and make it this week to ride Jr. again.

Channel 5 was actually saying that it will be open on thursday night for passholders. Anyone know different?
I was told yesterday, Monday May 1, that SOB might be open Thursday night for season passholders. I plan on calling the park tomorrow and Thursday before the long drive up there. Their phone number is 1-800-288-0808.
If it opened to rave reviews why even mess with success???
I'm sure 15 feet of track would not effect a persons veiw of the ride.
Not true. When I rode it, there was a HUGE jolt, not just a typical wooden coaster bump. From what I understand, it wasn't there originaly but became more and more of a problem. It actually made me think that we had come off of the track. It was a problem, enough so that my fiance said she wouldn't ride it again because of how much that one spot made her neck hurt. Again, I can't see another coaster possibly being any better than this one, but smoothing that section out will make it even better and faster. I'm all for getting shaken around and stuff, so I'm sure that the spot in question will still be shakey enough for everyone's liking.
Let's just hope this doesn't end up as a another Bat problem. One coaster being dismantled at PKI due to ride problems is enough. PKI should learn fom the Bat problem. I don't want to see a $15 million dollar coaster being takien down due to numorous problems. I think PKI's history is repeating its self, but let's hope not.

That reminds me, did anyone ever see the SNL where the two politicians were talking about "The Bat Problem" in the town? Sorry. Unrelated.
