SOB good or bad?

When i rode SOb i thought i was bad because it was so rough, but you guys seem to like SOB a lot, why is this and who likes it and who doesnt?

I like it...the first drop and intensity, as well as the loop make it a cool ride. It currently sits as my # 4 wooden coaster, but then again, living by CP, I have been sort of wooden-coaster deprived, so I don't think it will stay in my top 5 for long. It's a good ride, but not an incredible ride. I think the first helix could have been designed to maintain its speed a little better (it should have taken that lesson from its daddy). Speaking of it's daddy, the Beast is still millions of times better.

Haven't we had this debate before?

Where would we be without the rumor mill?
Yes we have. But no one's going to be satisfied until everyone says they hate it. SOB is not for everyone, but I say so what. I had a GREAT time on this coaster, hands down. The first drop is surreal and the first helix is just breathtaking. Everything else is pretty average but I didn't care. It worked for me, that's all I know.

Best wood:
1)The Legend
I loved SOB when I rode it in July,I live in the UK so there are no really big woodies around. The previous one I went on was "Megaphobia" in south Wales, this coaster is a CCI classic and it does not stop until the brake run. The first drop and the helix were sureal on SOB, as was the loop, after that it got just normal. But its Dad is a better ride. Lets hope SOB get faster with its age and braking in.
In a couple of years I can come back to PKI and spend the day riding the Beast and its Son..
Count 2 more votes for SoB from my wife and I. We rode it 5 times and only felt 1 ride was overly rough. All the other rides were great. Per a suggestion from an ACE member we always rode in the middle of a car. For the best ride, sit in 1-2.

Now, with that said, is SoB better than The Beast? IMHO: No. Is everyone going to like SoB? IMHO, again: No. But for us it's a great ride. There are people that like Mean Streak at CP and those that don't. It's just everyone's opinion. Ride it if you like it and stay away if you don't.

AMEN! DEK.
I like, but I'm younger and I can take a beating. My parents on the other hand thought that MS was rough, so they would probably wouldn't even try it.
My fiance and I love it, as have the other people we've gone to the park with this year.

As a side note (and this has been said quite a bit...) if you don't want a bumpy ride, sit in the middle seat of any car. This makes all of the difference.
sob=waste of time, money, and headaches.

I loved SoB. It's extremely intense, it's damned fast, it's exceedingly fun, and the layout kicks. The first drop rules, the first helix is pure intensity, the loop is definitely the best I've ever been through, and the rest is fun too.
I love it also, i would also like to say that it seems to be faster than MF at night. I don't know what it was maybe that you can barely see the track or MF has lights all around it, but it rang my bell.
Well,
i loved it! it was smooth, fast and fun!

I go to PKI at least 10 times a season and i consider myself a roller coaster enthusist, as do many people on this board. It seems as though the group that trashes this coaster the most is the enthusiast. Whereas most of the General Public think it is amazing. We need to stop over analyzing the rides and JUST HAVE FUN!! I am sure that 20 or so years ago, enthusists were having this same conversation about the Beast. Now it is a classic.
Good. Could be a lot better, but it delivers a different type of thrill than the Beast. Extra points for being the most wicked sounding and looking coaster in the world.

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
I just got back from Fear Fest at PKI and I rode SOB for my last and final ride..... period! I still got bruised up on SOB even with the trims on. I'll never ride that coaster until it becomes ridable. Don't count on me being in line for it anymore. It's still rough on the two helixes and the first drop. Sorry, I had a rough night (no pun intended).

If they are putting trims on a coaster thats only a year old than the ride has flaws. Its a shame.

My Ace rep. said that PKI had them (the trim brakes) put in when they were still building SOB. They just didn't have them on. That's what I've been told.
