SOB Fired Up

Posted | Contributed by Tyler

While rumored that the coaster may have a soft opening this past April weekend (April 21 through 23), it didn't happen.

As far as I know, there was no testing on Friday because of inclement weather. Sonny was testing today (Sunday, April 23) completing full circuits every time. It did have a period of down-time, with the train stuck just before the station.

The coaster made its rounds with human passengers (not public) as well as water filled dummies. I had a short conversation with an authorative figure at PKI, and he said testing is going great, and that the ride is the best he has ever been on (may be somewhat biased).

Related parks

The park was breakin in their second coaster train on April 21(Friday) for SOB.I was there to see it.They closed the park early around 7:00 or 7:30 and thats when I seen them run it.
Ok, Wednesday seems so close right now it isn't even funny. Don't forget Season pass holders, we get to tame SOB this Wednesday and Thursday! Also the entire Paramount Action Zone is open. Get ready for 2 nights of craziness! 5-10, don't forget!!!!!
Can't wait for Wednesday! I'll be there! I'm glad the whole Action Zone is open, I did not know that! See you there from 5-10!!!
I was at PKI on Saturday... Rode the Beast first thing...in the 40 morning temps....Brrrrrrrrrr. Later, i had the chance to ride Top Gun (which comes so close to SOB on the last big turn you can smell the fresh wood!) And Drop Zone for the first time (thumbs up) It too gives you a great shot of SOB... Anyway, SOB looks awesome! However I could over hear many people in line on numerous other rides questioning it's height!!!!! C'MON PEOPLE! SOB is built at the bottom of a thirty foot ravene! It's 218 to the top, 214 in the drop. Talk is cheap, ride the thing!
Everything in Action Zone (except for SOB) was open on Saturday... Even Congo Falls! (too damn cold!) Anyway, rode Face Off for the first time (cause last season the damn thing kept breaking down!) It's short, but enjoyable... The cobra roll on it isn't exactly frightening though.
What is drop Zone's Big Drop at end like ( it looks intense). Is SOB like out so you can see it
from like standing or is it hidden in whatever???

Don't Just love Beast i mean not the most intense
ride but its fun going that far outa the park and
in the maze of trees and bushes.

i can't understand how you go throught the loop on SoB with only a bar, is their more than a bar???
XT-DarkT:

SOB is very visible from a lot of the park. It does go out from the park, but is not as well hidden like its dad. The lift hill of SOB acts like a shield to cover most of the ride though, but if you go on King Cobra and Adventure Express, you get a great view of the ride. (AE is a great ride to see the loop on!!) Even better, Drop Zone gives you a nice ariel view of SOB!

And yes, there is only a lap bar! The trains were designed by premier. Im not sure if the trains have seat belts, I highly doubt it, but it is a possibility. Dont worry its safe, you wont fall out! :)

Drop Zone is a major rush!
You don't need shoulder harnesses on looping rides the G-forces hold you in
Geee forces? I remember when PKI had a ride called "SKYLAB" Nothing holds you in but good ole' physics. The G force will hold you in on a loop, not a corkscrew though. Of course SOB has no corckscrew.
