SOB Accident at Kings Island

I guess when there are paramedics on the loose it can't be good. I hope nobody was seriously hurt either. I'm eager to find out more.

Though these things can happen on any ride I still say TEAR IT DOWN it is not even an enjoyable ride. Maybe Cedar Fair will get it. I surely hope the riders are ok.

I predict lawsuits.

I see this ride as being indeed torn down in the future and not only because of this accident alone but because of many factors

Although it isnt that popular I am hoping to get to Kings Island next year and would like to ride it so I hope it makes it one more year. No it's not one of the greatest coasters ever but it would be nice to get one ride on it before it's gone.

Dood, I know. I mean, I'd kind of feel the same way you do if I never got to ride it. I'd want to get at least one in. But after riding it, I'd wish that someone would have warned me to stay away. So I'll do that for you. Stay away, I'm just looking out for ya man!

While I personally had started enjoying SOB this season and last, and thought it had been improving, I have to believe it's future is in question.

- They can't continue handling lawsuits for this ride.

- Plus, sitting in the restaurant we were at tonight when it came across the TV, all you could here at tables around us were comments about it always being a POS, being unsafe, having known so and so who was hurt on it, I hurt all over after riding it, I rode it once and never again, and on...and on...and on. It's not the first time I've heard these type things said by the general public about SOB either, but from the sound of it, it's already been given a death sentence by the public no matter how much PKI works to improve it.

I'm sorry to hear about the accident, but I hope they continue to work on it instead of tearing it down. I've probably had more than 50 rides on it and not a single complaint. It's a fast wooden coaster and I wouldn't expect anything different than a rough ride. I've had worse rides on Mean Streak @ CP.

Just think, you could probably build Holiday World for all the money they've got sunk in this coaster.

It took Dorney Park 14 years to realize that with Hercules.

Yeah but they still didn't have 40 million tied up in Herc LOL and probably built the new B&M included in that amount.

I would like to hope this could be one of the final nails in the coffin for SOB, but I'm sure that is nothing more then wishful thinking. I could think of about 100 other ideas they could do with the land space SOB is using up...any of them would be better then letting this coaster still stand. Hopefully, with new management under Cedar Fair, they will suck up their pride, and finally let it go.

I sincerly hope everyone is ok after this accident. Will be interesting to hear more details on what went wrong.

I believe at least a portion of the repairs for Son of Beast have been paid for by whoever they filed lawsuits against in 2000.

Hell the trains were payment on lawsuits over OLFOF.

For the one's who don't know like me please explain to me why SOB is so bad. Is this ride just rough or are there other contributing factors. It sounds to me like this ride is completely unsafe.

Yeah the trains were a compensation payment. I wonder if there's anything Premier could do to compensate for their compensation. ;)
