So what will Dragster do for S&S?

I was wondering what will Top Thrill Dragster do to S&S Sports Power TA2K. Here you have this 400 ft monster that can get to speeds of 100+ MPH. If Top Thrill Dragster doesn't have any problems, does that mean that S&S will have to find something new to sell?

Hopefully put them out of business. I'm tired of seeing Turbo Drop/Shot rides going up when the Intamin Gyro-Drops are so much better.

On the other hand, if the Screaming Squirrel gets built, that might be worth riding.

Who says S&S can't make a ride with speed over 100mph? Dodonpa has been testing at speed at about 120mph and i think when a park want a 300-400ft high coaster i don't think that would be impossible for S&S as they have allready built towers over 300ft.

Can't wait till they are offering a launched 4D coaster :-P

S&S also offers new spiced up riding styles to their tower rides. Their tilting seats should be freaky. I don't think they'll get out of business in a long time, no i think it's more the beginning of a S&S major coaster company period, competing with B&M, Intamin, GCI and Vekoma.

I must admit, all but one S&S rides I have ridden have been somewhat underwhelming to be honest. It's all down to taste I guess, and what you like from a ride. No S&S ride has ever given me substantial airtime which is something I look for in a tower.

S&S will be around.....Stan is *Absolutely Insane* and with Arrow and the new wood coaster division, I wouldn't worry too much about S&S. Sure, the Intamin gyro-drops are good rides (may be even better than the S&S towers we have already), but until you ride the Sky Sling, the Sky Swatter, the Screaming Squirrel, etc.,etc. don't sell S&S short...

bill, with a touch of stock-market humor....;)

Besides what Bill said I think that competition is always good in a marketplace. Without it innovation doesn't seem to come as quickly.

It's just like B&M's inverted coaster vs. Vekoma's SLC. (Which Vekoma's SLC is junk.)

B&M flyer vs. Vekoma flyer.

Morgan's hyper vs. Arrow's hyper.

So besides the S&S plant where could one ride either of these rides?

I almost agree with this. The Intamin Drop rides blow the 'big' S&S Towers away.

IB's S&S Double Shot 'ownz th3m 4ll,' and will own joo, 2! w00t!

I question anyone who would wish a amusement manufacturer out of buisness. The less manufactures, The more the ones remaining can charge and the less are likely to be built.

Chuck, who thinks the S&S Double shot at HW will be a big hit like IB's is for them.

Oh, come on, they all feel just about the same. They both drop, how are they so different from each other?

Tower of Terror is the best, though (although those 1st generation towers are the scariest). :)

Ew. How can any of you say the Giant Drops are better than the Space Shot and Turbo Drops? I've done many of both sides and the Giant Drops while slightly more thrilling, are less intense and not as fun overall.
S&S have developed new tilting seats that tilt farther than Intamin's and well make their turbo drop rides a helluva lot scarier. I myself still scream bloody murder when I ride the turbo drops. Droppin so fast from so high is thrill that will please and thrill the GP for years to come. S&S will stay in business ofr a long time to come.

hehehe, let's not count out Premier Rides, who I hear are working on some pretty awesome sounding stuff themselves.

And oh please, I wouldn't worry a bit about S&S, not a bit. By incorporating Arrow and parts of CCI into their business, they have positioned themselves as worth rivals to Intamin, and every bit as big. And it's not like Intamin doesn't have a few blemishes themselves. I won't mention them because they've been mentioned a thousand times already.

I'm sure Premier is doing OK with the retrofits, but man have they been quiet lately! Nothign new here since Speed, and then just one water coaster in Europe.

S and S still brings a lot to the table guys. The double shots are excellent, Dodpana looks to be killer with a 0-107 MPH acceleration in under 2 seconds, and the space shots are nothing that any other company has came up with.

Space Shots are better then any drop ride IMO.

While S&S can offer a good number of rides now, I don't know if thier catalog is a large as Intamin. They offer what, around 30-40 installation possibilities now, while Intamin's latest catalog had 104. From the looks of things Intamin still has the most rides available, with Zamperla (now that they can draw from the catalogs of SDC and Soriani & Moser) not too far behind. Again, this isn't to say S&S isn't a competent company, they just don't have the variety of products some older companies do.

About airtime on towers Marcus, I used to think that about the S&S towers too. Then I rode Dr. Evil's FearFall at IOA- and my thoughts are now changed completely. I think anyone who has been on multiple S&S towers including "DEFF (see above)" will agree.
