So really, how is Twister?

In an attempt to break up the monotony of all the Ohio park lambasting recently, i want to ask a question about a Penn Park coaster; specifically Twister @ Knoebels.

Just about everytime someone writes a TR about Knoebels they go on and on about Phoenix. But as a fan of twisters moreso than out and backs, Twister would be the drawn for me to make a four hour trek up there. So for those of you who have ridden it, how is it like? What other twister coasters does it remind you of (besides the obvious Mr. Twister of EG fame)
TIA

Twister is a fantastic coaster. It has great laterals, negative g's and a very twisted layout. Twister is a fun ride. Sit in the front for more air the back for stronger laterals.

The Phoenix and Twister are two awsome coasters that complement each other well. What one lacks the other makes up for.

As for Knoebels in general it's an awsome park.

Here's a link to an aerial shot of Twister. Go to rides and scroll down to Twister.

It's a great ride with a cool history. (I get a kick out of the "Golden Bolt.") Besides the obvious laterals, there are some other great aspects of the ride, such as the doubled-over-itself lift and the great headchoppers.

You should go to Knoebel's anyway. It's great. :)

After HersheyPark made me a twister fan, I really enjoyed Twister. Some of those laterals were just insane. I didn't like it as much as Phoenix, but I still love it to death.

From the video America's Greatest Roller Coasters: The Next Generation, it looks like a magnificent coaster. It is covered much better than most of the other rides. If I get a chance to ride it sometime, I'd definitely take it.
Rode it Monday for the first time. LOVED IT. Ride near the back....much more out of control the way it should be. And on a hot day, that cool tunnel is NICE!

But it's sure hard to beat those Flyers!!! I really want to move out of Ohio because of the great parks (and cute ride ops) in PA!!! Crap! I forgot her name.....

Haven't rode it since its first season (1999).

From what I remember though, it is a GREAT coaster. Unfortunately for Twister, it is over shadowed by its neighbor, the even GREATER Pheonix and you don't hear that much of it.

Most people know that Knoebels has one great coaster... but little do many realize that they actually have two.

Has anyone rode Twister and the original? I am interested in how close it rides to the original.

I never rode the original, but I can't imagine it being that much better, if at all! Knoebel's Twister is an amazing ride, its greatest asset is also its worst enemy, in a sense that its located in the same park as the Phoenix. With that coaster having sucha cult-like following and amazing reputation, I can see how its hard for the Twister to stand out. If the Twister was in practically any other park, it would be their flagship attraction.

As many have said, the Twister is the perfect complement to the Phoenix... it has great laterals, its layout is long and demented, and it has airtime which surpasses that on coasters that are designed to provide nothing but air (provided you pick the right seat).

Really, an amazing ride...
The original Mister Twister was considered by some to be the best woodie in America.

From what I have heard, those who rode the Original Mr.Twister and Knoebels Twister say that while Twister holds true to the "flavor" of the original and is a great ride, the original was still better. Of those who have rode Twister II (Mr.Twister's replacement at SFEG) and Knoebels Twister, the nod goes to Knoebels version.

I rode the original Mr. Twister and I was lucky that it was my first coaster so now nothing matches the greatness of that ride. I haven't ridden the Twister at Knoebles but I heard its really good. Don't bother with the copy at SFEG, its not worth the ride. To me the original is the best coaster ever.
Twister is a very cool ride. Great laterals and very scary headchoppers! It has a lot of unique features that really make it stand out.
