Can anybody tell me what this thing is? At first I thought it would just be some sort of snow/ice themed space shot/ turbo drop, but look at the track. The track looks like an I-beam, and Stan finally uses "normal" wheels
Yeah, also it looks like riders sit on some kind of snowmobile and travel laterally instead of up and down....hmmmmmmm
Anybody at the show able to provide details?
Since you asked...
It will have two or more tracks, as the one you've seen in the photo. The riders actually control the speed of the sleds, and they can reach 100 km/hr (about 62 mph I think). The last third of the track is a redundant breaking system. The ride automatically pulls the sleds back to reset the ride.

Is it just a straight shot? Are there any hills or turns?
Some hills and turns and would be really cool. Now ya can go snowmobiling without freezing your tail off! :-)

Living in Iowa, I go snowmobiling quite a bit. With as much snowmobiling that goes on in this area I can't imagine this ride really taking root in this area.
However, at a park like Knott's Berry Farm or SFMM I could see this being one successful ride.

You build it, I'll ride it
If they could control there speed, they couldnt possibly add any elements. How would a car make it up a hill or verticle loop at 4 miles per hour? There are skittish people who ride roller coasters :)
Sounds cool, I've always wanted to ride a snowmobile.
So this ride is basicly like that dragster thing in CA. This seems like more of a Challenge Park ride to me. You can't really do much with the I-beam track so it looks like the thing would just be a straight shot, right Jeff?

If they did have riders controlling the speed, they would have to have it so it couldn't drop below a certain speed, otherwise you'd have all those jackasses just stalling the ride for fun.
Phantom: That's the first thing that I thought of when I the show shot. I'm not very intrigued by this ride.
It is a straight shot, and installation (or portable) includes a racing "Christmas tree." It's not intended to be a traditional park attraction, but rather a pay-per-ride attraction or one for an FEC.
