Snow Covered Knoebels 12/20/00

We got several inches of snow yesterday and I had off work today so I figured it would be a good day to head to Knoebels and get some winter pictures. I drove down the old enterance way(where the big Knoebels sign is) and parked in a small parking lot next to the creek. The first few pictures I took were of the Phoenix. It still had snow on the structure and track. A few maintainance people were working on some of the bunny hops under the lift hill. The Phoenix looks great covered in snow. I guess its because of the gark greenish cover of the wood that makes the snow stand out. I saw the red train was in the transfer area and two cars of the yellow train were sitting in the consession area next to the Phoenix with the wheel assemblies taken off.
Next I made my way back toward the Haunted Mansion. All the cars were in storage and most of the signs were either covered or taken down for the winter months. All of the main paths have been plowed so it was easy to get around the park. Every now and then I would see a maintainance truck so I'd step out of the way and wave as they'd pass. All the trees in the park still had snow on them so it just made the scenery more beautiful. I then walked toward the covered bridge and got a few more pictures. I was actually surprised to see the carousel horses still in place although they had chainlink fence around the entire building. Lots of benches were also piled up under the as well.
As I walked toward the bumper cars I noticed some construction on the ice cream stand outside of Playland. The bumper cars were all gone from the building but noticed the cars from the Satelite taking up residence in their place. The Funnel Cake stand was gonen too but I saw some floor joists in that same area so I guess it's being replaced. The Galleon had a big canvas blanket covering the entire ship. The Whip looked like it hadn't been touched just snow on the roof. Next I made my way back toward the Haunted Mansion. All the cars were in storage and most of the signs were either covered or taken down for the winter months. All of the main paths have been plowed so it was easy to get around the park. Every now and then I would see a maintainance truck so I'd step out of the way and wave as they'd pass.
