Sniper and local parks

I sure hope that they can profile him soon and set up some Marine snipers at probable locations that he may hit. I would like to see him taken alive just to find out why he is doing this, but I don't think they will be able to.

I hope i won't get flamed for this, but doesn't a situation like this make you all realise that it's a total IDIOT situation that in a civilised country like the US, nearly every fool can get a gun/rifle?
Kids blowing eachothers brains out at schools, driveby shootings, maniacs emptying their killing devices at crowds resulting in bloodbaths and now a sniper playing God... Think people, THINK!

Any of you who dont live in the MD/VA area have it alot better. Maybe in west VA and PA it might be sketchy too, but let me tell you, its rough where i live.

all parks and rec, out door school sports/activities(INCLUDING the homecoming dance)are cancled. even the after school detentions, lol(cause trouble while you can ;-) **sarcasm**).

overall, i would say that the "Sniper" issue has made a larger impact in my area than 9/11 did. yes 9/11 was devastating, and im not saying that nobody cares, but this is still going on, and nobody feels safe. i kno that its not very likely that i will get shot, but these shots are completely random and the person(s) dont seem to care where and when they commit the crime.

-Why a car if i could have a coaster train on wheels??

I would be worried if I lived where this was happening. I wouldn't change any errands I run, but I would be looking around all the time, and I would probably pee my pants anytime I saw a peach/white astrovan with a silver rack on top. Or anytime I saw someone go into a wooded area, even a park. People have a right to be concerned.

I'm worried not because of amusement parks because I'm done but we are supposed to go to Gettysburg as a class and I'm worried that he'll be around there. He probably won't but its bothers me.

I don't think you are more likely to get killed on a coaster. You may be more likely to win the lottery, but not get killed on a coaster.

I live my life one day at a time. I believe that when the Good Lord says it's your time, it's your time. Whether at home by heart attack, in a car crash, or by sniper bullet, when it's your time, it's your time. So don't worry about it. Live every day to the fullest because you really never know when it may be your last.

Bullsh*t the sniper bullet is from a human's own free will to commit sin not by god's choosing he is not an angel of death. It is not the good lord's will for an individual that is more than likely unstable mentally to kill you.

Hitler instituted complete gun control so he would have ultimate authority. If we didn't have guns people would just stab people with knives. (which are given out in school cafeterias) and if we didn't have guns the government could take over period.

Also: Any idiot just cannot buy a rifle/gun. They are very hard to obtain.(legally) You apparently did not research your statement. You have to take a course before you can get a liscense to use a gun.(in my state anyway). There are also mandatory background checks in almost all 50 states.

There might be a risk outside the park, in the parking lot for example, but I think that once you are inside you'd be pretty safe.

We are all entitled to our beliefs about what happens when somebody dies, or what causes it. But, just because you believe different does not mean you should insult another persons opinion.

I was just trying to say that you should live you life because you never know when your time will be up. We all know of people in there thirties and forties that have had massive heart attacks and dies. We all know of people that died in auto accidents. Death is part of life. If you lock yourself in your house because of this f#$#n sniper @$$H#%^$, than he wins. Try to do some things and try to enjoy life.

I don't know what any of that has to do with coasters but it's pretty wack! BTW, I was thinking about SFA from the beginning, and all I could think of was what a great shot the sniper would have from the top of S:ROS.

I could go and get a gun TODAY is I so chose. And NOBODY would even know I had it.

You are naive if you believe that every gun used in a crime is obtained legally. There is such a bountiful "black market" for burners that with only a cursory search, ANYONE could buy one.

And as far as SFA is concerned, I hate to say this, but I think the Sniper shizznit has actually HELPED its attendance. The only reason I say this is because the middle/high school kids have nowhere else to go. Whereas normally they'd be at a football/soccer/lacrosse match, they now have nothing to do. People are spooked about going to shopping malls so that's out. What's left? The park has its own security, and they even have metal detectors. Seems like a secure enough environment.

Remember, these kids have been essentially held hostage in their schools for weeks now. They need *somewhere* to go to burn off a little of that "cabin fever". SFA is not a bad choice.

Moreover, it just seemed on Saturday night that the place got more and more crowded. They were even using two rows of the overflow queue on S:ROS WHILE they were running both trains (something I have never seen before aside from Latino/Latina day). All the haunted houses had lines and the hayride line was ridiculous. Sum up, there were mucho peeps in the park.

Draw your own conclusions.

"To get inside this head of mine, would take a monkey-wrench, and a lot of wine" Res How I Do

Sounds like SFA was packed last Saturday. That much gueue on SROS is rare. When I went the Saturday before crowds weren't too heavy. I guess that they are picking up as it gets closer to Halloween and as people try to get out to break their cabin fever.

All I am trying to get across is that it is highly unlikely that you or someone you know will be shot at by this ONE guy who is only murdering about one person a day. We watch the news on TV and read the papers and then we become scared of this guy. Why aren't you scared of second hand smoke? Or driving? Or swimming, hikeing, or playing tag football with you buddies?

Stop giving this jerk the attention he is demanding. He might not even be doing this if he didn't think it would make him so famous. If we live in fear, than we are only giving him what he wants.

Most people are not agreeing with me outside of the C-buzz community either. I do feel bad for you closer DC; pray for Gods protection.

I hope these words are slightly comforting to those of you who are liveing in fear of "the sniper". Just look forward to how relieved you will be when they stop him.

Listen Dexter, all the things you mentioned are voluntary. Getting shot to death isn't voluntary, unless you're into that kind of thing.

Dude, you're getting an Intamin!

This whole thing is extremeley sad. To think someone finds it fun and entertaining to shoot innocent people. I hope they find this guy and let him rott in prison for the rest of his life.

I pray for the families who have been affected by these recent events.

"Life is like a roller coaster; there are ups and downs and it's over all too fast."

Fight Back at: www.realizethis.com

There are approximately 5,000,000 potential targets in the sniper's current target area. Okay, so there are only 4,999,987 potential targets in the area (he's taken 13 shots so far). Think about that a moment. That means if you live in the area, you have about a 1:4,999,987 chance of being that target. How do you like the odds?

Then realize that without too much effort you can reduce your exposure to the hiding spaces favored by snipers. That reduces your odds even more. The fact is, yes, it's scary. But the media reports I am seeing here suggest that people are downright frantic, that a fear paralysis has set in down there, and I have to think that most intelligent people are more intelligent than that.

To put it another way...
o There is a sniper on the loose in DC.

And that makes the headlines. But all over the country there are murderers, rapists, madmen, bombers, bad drivers, terrorists, escaped felons, thieves, and other unsavory characters all ready to do evil deeds. Every one of us is at risk of becoming a victim of some criminal every single day. And yet most of the time we do not curtail our activities, we do not live in fear, and we do not worry about this risk. Statistically, our risk is pretty low most of the time. It's just that right now there is a brazen criminal out there who is getting all the attention.

It's a bigger deal than you think. This can lead to many copy-caters like him. It's a scary situation that is very unique.
