I searched and found these parks; Keansburg amusement park, Playland park, Adventurland, Nellie Bly Park, and Bowcraft Amusement Park just to name a few. Im into more than just the roller coaster aspect i want to be able to appreciate all aspects of the theme and amusement park world. So tell me your thoughts on these parks and some other places in the area.
There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!
I can only speak of Playland, I have yet to visit the other parks. Playland is very nice. The Dragon Coaster is a fairly gentle ride, but it is one of the few Church designs left. They are also putting in a Zamperla flyer this year. The park itself is a national historic landmark, and was the first park designed around a cental layout. It has a very classic looking art deco look. One flat ride of note is the Derby Racer, one of only two in the country, and a whole lot fast then the one at Cedar Point. They probably also have the best Whip ride found anywhere, and several dark rides as well as a house of mirrors.
The park is free, you pay for ride tickets, and there is a parking charge. You can find a report and pictures posted here.
Enjoy your trip.

Nellie Bly was a treat, it has a cute junior coaster and Keansburg was really good as well. All the parks are very affordable, and many of them ae run in- run out sorts of deals, but hey, we were on a schedule.
Our trip started with leaving columbus to SFA, then to Ocean Citys 4 parks, on a ferry to NJ with Wildwood as a big stay, many of the other peir parks, SFGrAdv, SFNE, Great Escape, Coney, Playland, Whalom and the Maine Parks and hitting small new york states parks on the way back to columbus..
Whew!
Oh yeah we're not going until next fri and comming back on monday...........
(p.s. im not going shopping im ditching them to go park-ing lol lol)
