Small Hype, surprisingly good

It seems like rides that I hear thrased so many times end up being good and ones that people say are great aren't. Raptor was supposed to be soo awesome but I didn't find anything special about it at all when I rode it. I did enjoy Mean Streak and Disaster Transport, after hearing so much crap about them. I was almost afraid to go on Ninja at SFoG because id heard it was so painful. I rode it and found it to actually be sorta smooth.

montezumas revenge is the best steel coaster in so cal outside magic mounatain. Knotts gets all its hype for Ghostrider and Supreme Scream but Montezumas is a rush and way better then overratde boomerang.
Deffinetly the Villain when sfo anounced their 4 new coasters no one thought villain would be able to contend with SUE (another suprisingly good coaster) or BKF. But it did contend if not surpass the other coasters.
Gemini.
Exterminator at Kennywood. I'd heard nothing about it and walked off very impressed. To be sure, this is a gimmick ride, not a standard coaster, but it certainly delivers.
I particularly enjoyed a few woodies that I don't think receive a whole lot of press: Wild One and Roar at SFA and Wildcat and Lighning Racer at Hershey.
Then there's the coaster that just blended in with all of the other "Supermen: Rides of Steel" which I saw pictures of before taking a trip there with my school band. I saw it and was totally blown away; even more so when I actually rode it. It was absolutly awesome! It still never gets nearly as much hype as the gigas, but I would expect to be better than them because it has many more elements, and much more airtime than millennium force. I guess everyone just thinks that since it's way out here in New England that it's not really worthwhile??? *** This post was edited by Not Quite Coaster on 4/19/2001. ***

Hershey's coasters never seem to get much recognition. In some cases they are actually maligned... I hear a lot of bad things about Great Bear and even the venerable old Comet.

One thing to keep in mind with Hershey... they go more for the family atomosphere than the thrill seekers. Another thing to keep in mind... while their coasters may not be record breakers, they are still quality coasters.

Of course, that is just my opinion doing a little bit of positive P.R. for my home park.

I'd have to say Excalibur, nobody said much about the ride after Wild Thing opened at Valleyfair but the Excalibur, while on the short side, offers one heck of an intense ride.

Yes Scandia Screamer is one coaster that doesn't look like much but packs a hail of a punch. On an intensity scale of 1 to 10 this thing has got to be a 10

I would say Goliath is at 1 compared to this little thing those drops and unbanked turns are so vicious I just knew the train was coming off the track lol talk about g's and airtime galore. IF you guys are in the area go to Scandia and ride the screamer believe me you want be disappointed. It is way more intense then any coaster at a big time corporate park like SF, CP, Paramount, or Busch.
ANYTHING AT HERSHEY.

Ok, that said, also:

Iron Wolf, SFGAm Viper, and reptar.
