Small Hydra update on Dorneypark.com

Hi everyone!

A couple of things... just had my mom drive me past dorney on both hamilton and on dorney park rd. in the back. hydra is really almost done now, as they are already half way through the building of the final helix. that final corkscrew into the helix looks really intense!

but the other thing i noticed that i haven't seen mentioned yet is that the ride skyscraper is totally gone! that was the big spinning arm over near laser that you had to pay extra for. i had my mom pull over so that i could make sure what i was seeing was real, and it was. you can see where it used to stand. interesting we never heard about it being taken out, it's too bad, i love that ride!

that's all for now. see ya

I'm not very up to date on this coaster, but please someone tell me this is a floorless coaster. cause that would be sick

Tis a floorless...looks "wicked haaadcore" ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Danny -- I'm afraid it's bad news. I noticed the same thing yesterday. At first I thought maybe they did it for maintainence or something (even though it would be awfully strange). I was talking to some other people about it and someone confirmed to me that it was being removed (although they don't work for the park or anything, so take their word for what it's worth). They also mentioned of a rumored SkyCoaster or something of the sort (because apparently Sky Scraper wasn't making much money). It really is a shame because it was an awesome ride and it was so unique!

Also, Hydra is looking awesome! I can't wait until May to actually ride this thing!

this is a floorless?!! SWEET I might have to make plans for a trip because this coaster is lookin wicked sick.

Superman,

All the girls around her say she's got it coming, but she gets it while she can.

Sounds like a good advertising slogan for a ride to me.

Is it just me or do the transitions on the ride look abnormally.....Arrow? :P

That said, it does look like a really solid and unique ride and I'm looking forward to riding it.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

If you look on the webcam (when it is light out of course), you can see that the second flat spin and helix appear to be done. I love the amount of 'stuff' going on in the last pic listed above.

The rumors of Skyscraper being removed have been circulating for several months now. While it was fun, it was one of those things that was only worth it when it was half price, which doesn't add up to being worth it for the park.

A new picture was added to the park gallery showing the nearly completed ride from the lake front. I'd guess track work should be completed by the end of the year if not sooner.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

From the angle in the new picture, the helix looks like it is going to be rather tight and intense, instead of the 'catch your breath, slowing down' variety.

I love the top-heavy approach to the cobra roll; to explain it better, how it is tight in the bottom, yet wider and elongated at the top.

The trains are on the track, the dummies are in the train. I'd guess testing will begin very soon if it hasn't already...
