I've gotta wonder what happened here. I'm certain that my kid did this ride with me around 6, maybe 7 years. It does have the longer bench-style lap bars, I think, instead of the newer iterations, which I think are individual.

It has the individual ones actually:

Will be very interesting to learn what happened.

Huh, that's surprising. I wonder if we'll see a follow up report, since everyone is apparently busy covering the non-event walk-down on Magnum.

You are right Jeff - the coverage on this one has been seemingly far less than what I would expect given that there was an injury and it was to a child.

That ride came from Legoland/Cypress and if I’m not mistaken was one of the first to feature the new individual lap bars. It was also a lot more fun there with some awesome spins. Fun Spot seems to have somehow dumbed it down.

The ride ran some test cycles today and the local media is on it

That was actually pretty reasonable reporting. I expected nonsense. I will say that the "expert" that they talked to suggesting that seat belts would make it safer probably can't explain how, or how it would have prevented this accident. I mean, not even CP has belts on their new mouse.

That guy is the inventor of the skycoaster.

Can't read the article because it's not available in my region – but I should say that Reverchon mice have been running on European fairs since the mid-nineties and none of them have seat belts.

Can anyone confirm...I know there have been a few passenger ejections on these rides. It runs in my mind that ALL of the ejections have happened on rides that have the individual lap bars rather than the shared drop bar. Is that true, or am I mistaken?

No. Lightwater Valley was the shared bar.
