Six Flags Worlds of Adventure parking reduced to $7

Posted | Contributed by Mr. Villain

Everyone at one time griped about the ridiculous parking fees that Six Flags Worlds of Adventure charged its visitors. Park guests can now breath a sign of relief, even if it is minimal. The parking fee will be $7 when the park opens its gates.

See the official Six Flags site for more information.

I thought $9 was ridiculous last season and while I still think $7 is high, I'm happy that it is at least lowered instead of increased.  As for the other changes for this season:

Tigers are cool, but I liked the pet show.

It is really sad that they were unable to put up the hypercoaster.

I want them to add a dark ride! :)

Why the freak is parking at theme parks so gosh darned expensive?

This will really blow your mind:
At SFoG, it costs like $9 to park. However, it only costs $2 to keep your pet in the kennel for the day. Kennels have to be sanitary, they require licensed personnel to run them, etc.

So you could put 4 pets in the kennel for the day and it would still be cheaper than parking your car (which SFoG isn't liable for). Ain't that grand?

it doesn't matter if it's $7.00 or $20.00 people will still pay it. you people are funny, ***** about it, but you still go. if you don't like it don't go. six flags woa is a nice park!
Parking at the Disneyland Resort is $7.00. For that you get to park in a modern, well lit, patrolled parking structure with frequent tram service to the entrance plaza. From there it's easy access to Downtown Disney, California Adventure, or Disneyland. I don't have a problem with that. I would have a problem paying that much (or more) to a park that doesn't have tram service and has a quasi paved lot.The line that it helps pay for the operation of the lot is a bunch of you know what. It all comes out of the operating budget. It's just another way to ding you.
Thats sweet!

I don't understand why some Six Flags season passes are more expensives at their different parks if they can be used at all their parks?

And I agree that in addition the admission, souvenirs, fast pass, and food, parking gouging seems unnecessary.

Now, a good dark ride, that wouldn't be unnecessary! :)

So if I understand Dark Helmet correctly, it's better to take a dog-sled to the park, provided you can get there with "4 dogs or less"...is there a special lane on the highway for that?

I have to agree with Rideman... parks look at parking fee's as another way to get some money from the patron.. I just hope that money is being put towards new trams; or something along those lines.... :)

Yeah, and here's what I don't get: The parks seem to have taken the attitude that the customer has an unlimited supply of cash to blow in the park, and that all they need to do is provide more opportunities to spend that cash. That's what queue management schemes are all about, too: Besides making EVERYONE wait longer for the ride, they can push back a ride time far enough to increase length of stay in order to generate more food sales. Trouble is, most people don't have an unlimited cash supply. To make matters worse, the parks are dipping hard into that LIMITED cash supply before the customer even comes in the front gate. Work the parking charge into the admission, and it goes on the credit card with the admission ticket, thus increasing the amount of cash available inside the park. Collect it at the toll booth, and a $7 parking charge amounts to a full round of soft drinks for a family of four that can no longer be purchased. Not to mention unhappy drivers.

Dave's got a good point, though if the park's actually followed his advice they'd be getting MORE money out of us.

After SFOG's example last year of bait-and-switching the prices, I have  faith that SFWOA will pull a similiar stunt. Use it as a promotional gimmick for a couple months, then jack the prices back up.

$10 to park at some of them.  Geeez.  Nice thing about SFKK and SFAW, only $3 and $5 at the city owned lots (but no parking pass option).

If I remember correctly when I went it was $10.00. Even Valleyfair is now charging $7.50 last time I checked.

SFWoA lowering prices...I thought that I'd never see the day.  Way to go SFWoA.

Now everyone is complaining about parks charging admission.  C'mon people.  Look at where else you pay to park...a baseball/football/basketball game, college campuses, and heck sometimes you gotta pay to park your car on the side of the road.  You own a vehicle and you need somewhere to park it so you pay like everyone else.  Some enthusiasts must live very very grumpy lives.  What are you gonna wine about next?  Oh my parking ticket says SFWoA is not responsible for any theft or damage to your car..."Oh but I payed 7 dolars so they should watch after it and wax it when I'm in the park." It's all capitalism and if you don't like it, leave the U.S or just deal with it.
And Rideman, you do make some valid points, however, I disagree about "Limited cash."  Most guests that visit amusement parks are on a vacation or get away of some sort.  When families go on vacation...money usually isn't an issue.  The limited cash seems to apply to enthusiasts who visit the parks every day or week. *** This post was edited by LTLWcbYbe on 1/24/2002. ***

Just remember, there ARE parks out there that do not charge for parking.  And they happen to be amongst the best in the world.  Coincidence?

LOL! I have to laugh at some of the things said in this thread. Of course parks want all the money they can get, it's a business out to make a *profit*.  Since when is business *not* about being greedy and hording all the money you can get? This isn't a charity, it's supply and demand. When people stop going and their research reveals it's because prices are too high, they will come down, and not one moment sooner.

Try going to a sporting event sometime. They're charging $10-12 bucks easily, and that's to park for only a few hours.

Hey, all parks suck as far as parking is concerned.  Even Cedar Point raised their parking fee DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON one summer.  You went to the park Wednesday and it was $6...the next day it was $7.

Now that is ridiculous.

They think they are "milking us for all we got"... but I would be happy and more willing to spend more at a park that treats me better....
Oh please. Who pays full price for Six Flags anymore? If not the season passes, most SF parks offer as much as half off their admission prices through coupons most of the year. People just like to complain, I can't remember the last time I actually paid the full $42.99 to get into SFMM. So it would make sense to me that some of the park's revenue comes from allowing me to park my car.

No, Mr. skipper, not ALL parks suck as far as parking is concerned, as I pointed out above.  That seems to be true of the corporate parks, but there are places - such as Holiday World and Knoebel's - that charge nothing to park.  Hell, Knoebel's doesn't even charge anything to get IN.  There are alternatives out there ...

Could it be the mini-mall going in across the street from the main entrance... with the HUGE parking lot
