Well the trip to SFNE did get cancelled this summer, but not because of the Cyclone reprofiling. My friends and I were debating to take our vacation to either Boston or Chicago and we chose Chicago, and I got to go to SFGAm. Maybe SFNE will come next summer.
Glad to hear the modifications on the (Riverside) Cyclone actually benefit the ride. Usually reprofiling = bad for coaster enthusiasts. I suppose my original comment was a TAD hasty, but I always fear for the worst when I hear that a ride (especially a wooden coaster known to be powerful and violent - the type of ride I love) is being reprofiled.
As for Cedar Point ruining their woodies, I believe that's a pretty strong claim. I had one of my best rides on the Blue Streak today. A lot of parks are replacing the old PTC buzz bars with modern racheting bars and the Mean Streak wasn't that great to start out with. Shivering Timbers already has racheting lapbars and was well designed by the folks at CCI, so all I could possibly see being added is seatbelts. Not too bad. Cedar Fair didn't put headrests on Ghostrider so I think they won't add them to ST either.
