I saw almost as many SFWoA commercials in the Detroit area as I did for CP. Most of those placed a lot of emphasis on the wildlife area.
If attendance was down, I would figure it was more due to the decrease in hours, and less returning visits from people who were disappointed the year before. It's still a park in progress in my estimation. They've got some great rides and a lot to offer. But that means nothing if the customer service isn't there.
And before anyone thinks I'm SF bashing because of my CP-ness, my family is going to purchase season passes for SF next season. We had a great time at SFGAm.

SFWoA is a HUGE HUGE work in progress. Willing things keep moving in a forward direction, this park is going to be great with in the next 10 years (and according to they do the stuff they laid down for a 10 year plan.)
While it is obivious their attendance was down, I'm curious to see what happen when they brought in the whale. Those who have gone to SFWoA have seen a big difference in the WildLife side after that. It's still hard to imagine a "Giant Fish" (yes, I know it's not a fish) can draw in people like that. Time will tell. And 2004 will be GREAT!!!

Haunted Ohio Parks...you've been warned!!
The work that they need to do there has little or nothing to do with rides and attractions, and with the amount of cash they've thrown at that park in the last few years, you'd think that someone in Oklahoma City thought they could buy their way into the big leagues.
The work they need to do is in customer service, operation and training. Back off the huge annual cap ex and start running the park. If they don't do that, people will not come back.

How would you know if the staff members enjoy their jobs? They "sure as hell" don't talk to you. Most of them are too busy worrying about making sure their caps are tilted at just the right angle and their shorts are hanging a suitable 12 inches below the waist. Oh, and using the appropriate "gangsta lean" when checking restraints.
I wouldn't enjoy my job either, if I were doing the job of three people on the platform.

But look at it from this way, without adding those 4 coasters in 2000 the park would have had next to nothing, and people wouldnt have visited. In 2001 they tried to increase attendance by adding a coaster AND buying a whole other park.
How much cap. did HW spend and how much did their attendance go up?

They removed the Corkscrew for Mind Eraser and in 1998 they added Serial Thriller which is still a good ride. If they had kept the pace slow and steady and did not rush a major expansion they would be big in quality.
Six Flags cannot expect the numbers they got in 2000. 4 new coasters and a new name bring people in to satisfy their curiosity at the very least.
I still wonder what would have happened if Funtime had not sold out in 1994.
