The ride was one of the rides on the experimental ride sharing program that Six Flags had.

You silly dude, your'e only food, for the DEMON"

Great history! Let's see:

Tom's Twister was not open the first year. I believe your are correct about the second year.

Rail Blazer ran with the stand up cars for the rest of the season and I think the next as well.

The haunted house was near where the Tidal Wave is now. It was the one that was in the parking lot for the Halloween season in previous years.

I always remember the scrambler being El Toro Bravo until they changed it to Shazam.

Anybody remeber Tarkio Turkey (82-83) over by the Time Tunnel?

I just found my "I'm No Chicken, I Flew the Screaming Eagle" button. Now I have to find my old pictures from 71-80.

That parachute drop tower used to scare me to death. I finally got used to it and actually fell in love with it the last season it was open. Back then I had a season pass every year and we'd go every sunday evening after hanging out at my Aunt's farm in Grey Summit. Good times.
I was always thought that the Rail Blazer shut down after that lady from Indiana was thrown from the ride and killed. I also thought it never was re-opened for the remainder of the season or ever for that matter. Am I wrong or am I on track here? (pardon the pun)

Yes, it did reopen that summer, but I'm not sure about the next season. I was working at Six Flags that year and they used us to test it when it reopened. We didn't have any idea what was going on until that night when we were read a statement and told not to talk to the media. To this day I can't imagine how she got out of that car. You couldn't see out of them to the side, it was like riding in a rolling coffin. Several rumors were circulating through the park and "Stella was pushed" graffiti started showing up.

How many parks still do have a parachute drop ride?

It re-opened, I rode Rail Blazer after the accident. I, too, can't imagine how anyone could of fell out of those cars. you were strapped in tight, especially afterwards. It was pretty lame as I recall. ...And I don't think it re-opened the following year however. It sat idle until the Right-Side Mine was sold and removed.

I am really hoping for a Hyper or a Floorless next year... Pleaz....

Steve

Heck Yeah I remember tarkio turkey! Funny stuff when I was an 11 year old kid. Squirt me again, it's hot sitting in the sun while you crack jokes. One time when I rode the parachutes with my stepfather and stepbrother, we got stuck at the top for 20 minutes. Good part was that we were facing the park instead of the trees on the back side. Please rip out the sky coaster and put a drop tower were it belongs. About the all season haunted house, I remember something about somebody being hurt while inside. Something about a knife. Probally just a rumor.

Stupid Cornfields

Since there are a lot of people talking about the Sky Chuter(parachute drop), one of you should be able to help me. I know that the parachute drop ride was where the Dragon's Wing is today, which is also the place where the Riverview Racer(Aero Flyer) was located.

So my question is was the Highland Fling, Sky Chuter and the Aero Flyer all there together at the same time. Or did the Aero Flyer replace the Sky Chuter when it was removed?

First came the Sky Chuter, then they removed it. In its' place, was the Aero Flyer, then it was moved. They Highland Fling is in it's original spot. The spot where multiple things have been (in this question) is the spot of the Sky Chuter in question. Clear as mud right? LOL

SFZip,

I do recall all three being together at one time. The Fling, next was the Swings, then the Sky Chuter. I bet this was around 1979. The Highland Fling hasn't moved an inch...

Some of you guys must have better memories than me because I went at least 20 times the year of rail blazer and was extremely p.o.ed because I never got to ride it. I was there one week before it opened and 1 week after the *uhhh* accident and at least another dozen times after and never got to ride. The sign saying the ride was closed was always there.

What happened to Rail Blazer?

Nice history, a ride named Injun Joe would never open today without protest and lawsuits

A woman fell out and died, duh

"The fish are eating the guest, sir

Sicne were on the subject of death I have some questions about SFSTLs most trajic accedent ever when 3(?) people died in a gondala when it fell from a cable. Now my questions are. When did this happen?

2.Where did the gondala hit the ground at.

3.When was the ride removed.

4.Why does almost noone no about it when EVERYBODY knows about Railblazer (I say the husband pushed her out)

5.When were the stations converted too arcades.

P.S the footers for the ride (well at least 4 I know of) are still inplace at the park.

I don't know much about when the SkyWay accident occured but I do seem to remember that it just happened not to make "major" news. Sure it made the news on T.V. and in the papers and stuff but that was just about it. When RailBlazer happened, it was all over the local media and was focused on heavily due to the circumstances surrounding the incident itself. People were quite stunned as to how something like this could happen on a new ride and who was to blame actually. (the ride ops for letting a person of "substantial size" ride, the victim for not realizing the rides limits beforehand, or the manufacturer for not posting some sort of limits) Not to mention, Rail Blazer was a "brand new" ride and it was very heavily advertised and what-not. There was a lot more publicity surrounding the ride since it was a new gimmick. (the whole stand up thing) Sky way was just an ordinary average ride. Nothing to speak of.

The car from the skyway fell right behind the food stall that is across from the Chevy Show - Pikes Peak, I think it was called back then. The one with the pointed roof.

The gondola of the Sky Way fell off on July 26, 1978, four people were in the car and 3 of them died.

The ride did reopen after the accident and was removed sometime in the early 1980's, before 1984. It was probably removed in 1982 or 1983 but I not sure when it was exactly removed.

Where are the 4 footers at Bossstl??

If practice makes perfect but noone is perfect, then why practice.

1.Behind walk and roll.

2.Behind Mc Donalds

3. Behind vending (that ugly blue building with the garage doors accross from Calico's)

4.And i cant think of were the fourth one is.
