Not sure I'm buying the rumor that it is going to be repainted. I mean, seems like a real waste of money to paint a ride, then come back a few weeks later and paint it again, especially considering it would cost CONSIDERABLY more to repaint it now that the ride is vertical....Maybe calling it "Superman" instead of "Acrophobia" is just Shapiro's way of putting the nail in the coffin of all the SFStL fan's hopes of getting a Superman themed Intamin hyper... (remember how long those rumors lasted?)...
Willing to make a little bet on the paint job? Thus far, the information coming into are site has been about 90 to 95% fact, of course there were last minute changes.
Also, the hyper isnt per say a rumer, it really does exist, but only as a blue print. :-/
Besides I would rather have this anyday over a coaster. I dont have kids or anything, but its good for the park and it should be the begining of hopefully a nice turn around. I would rather see it as a family theme park then a subdivision.
The story of a themed ride is important to me. The B&M flyers themed to Supes allow the rider to imagine what it is like to fly. I almost imagine the same for a Superman hypercoaster.
The bouncing and maybe the launch of a Superman themed S&S, like the one in Texas, has a little more movement, just scraping the edge of acceptance in my imagination, maybe like leaping a tall building in a single bound or something.
Another heavily themed Intamin Drop Tower like the one at SFSL is at IOA. They give it a reason to exist within an elaborate story. Doom wants to scare you so he can extract your fear so he can defeat the Fantastic Four. A little lame but better than just slapping a name on the ride and saying it's Doom's ride, accept it.
Batman inverted coasters (and the flyer at SFA) allow me to be batman flying around over Gothem City in my Batjet. It a very well though out concept, and make's it much more fun, imho.
A Quality ride theme to me is thinking out a great concept, and not just slapping a recognizable logo on a new ride and saying, "It's Supermans Tower." In the end, I'm still very happy that the park finally got a drop ride though.
I sure can rant sometimes. sorry. :)

Bosstl - think about how I treated the park last year with one of my updates and then try to read your question to me again with a straight face. :)

Yeah your right, I cant beleave I asked. I am sure even your hatred of the park may change slightly this year. Maybe JUST maybe if the parks lucky you might say something nice.
Nah, that wont ever happen. ;)
jk
I actually do not hate the park, I enjoy a lot of the rides there, it was just that the park was looking so neglected the last few years with regards to upkeep and so on. Also I just have never been to fond of the park after working there for a little while during Fright Fest. (that ALONE should explain some things) :)
