Six Flags search for hero's

I wonder if the top 10 where amoung the 25 to be at the media day? I called Great Adventures marketing dep. I left a message about the contest the lady called me back, and left a message. She stated that " All of the winners have been chosen however the top 10 have not, if you have not received a letter by this time then we really want to thank you for your effort, but making the cut was a very tough choice however all of the essay's where very good, and well written." If you dont belive me E-mail me your phone number or cell number and I will foward the message to you. I still have faith, and even if I did notwin I have to except the fact that their contest was not the end of the world. I know im a good writer, I even have awards hanging in my living room for it. However im going to give the marketing dep a call back becuase I want to know why my essay may have not been picked. I put so much hard work into it , when they announced the contest in Oct I started, I did not finish till the day before the deadline.Its ok I gave it my shot, and 700 essays is alot.

I wrote mine on how Six Flags brand Great Adventure (TM) Super Action Fun Park (R) is the bestest gol-darn fun park in the United States of America! The rides are fun!!!!!111 And the food is super-yummy! Even the shows are spectacular - but I like the rolly coasters the best! Wheeeee!

Um..Mr. Whitsett, you DID say your writing was award winning, if you would recall the first post in which you told us about your placing in the essay contest. The whole tenth grade thing is just weak man...I mean, I know fifth graders that write with better grammar* (thanks for the spelling correction, I can't spell) Oh and Mr. Witsett, I'm sure we would all like to see some of your award winning writing here as soon as you do get home, or maybe you are on a yearly excursion to Taiwan?

I also am a big fan of the word Defenestration. Especially when used in historical context, The Defenestration of Prague.

I said was was one of the 25 chosen to be the first to ride Superman: Ultimate flight. I said I hope I can make it into the top 10 or the grand prize winner.

You act like it's the end of the world if I spell a few words incorrectly. It ain't like it's a test to graduate H.S. or something. Stop b******* and go on with your life!

Have I gotten under your skin Derrick? And I would never complain about spelling, it was just the horrible grammar. :-)

I wrote my essay on my parents who are true heros to society, and to me. I just could not pick between the both of them so I wrote 4 paragraphs, and gave them each their own, and concluded how together they are heros to me no mattter what etc. I thought I had a shot. Its ok becuase my parents found it, and read it. It made them really happy, and they said its ok if I did not win, they have a surprise for me next month (?)

Derrick, I have one more problem. Six Flags may have selected you as a winner, despite the fact that the winners were scheduled to be announced on March 10th, and despite that the winners were going to be contacted via telephone, not a letter.

One more thing grabs my attention. You said that Six Flags said you could bring one friend. If 25 winners are selected, and each brings a friend, that adds up to (grabs calculator) 50 people. There are 32 seats on Superman, correct? Now, if my math skills are any better than some grammar skills shown here, I will confidently say that 50 is greater than 32. Nowhere in the contest rules does it mention bringing a friend, except to New York or Washington DC if you are the grand prize winner.

Just something to consider.

The only 25 people will be able to ride it.

Dear Derrick:

Congratulations! Your essay has been selected as one of the top 25 in Six Flags "Search for heroes" Essay contest.

Many of the more than 700 essays we recieved were quiet moving, making the process of choosing the top 25 extremely difficult. The passion, sensitivity and sincere expression of feelings that were generated in all of the essays impressed us.

During the next two weeks, our celebrity panel of judges will choose the grand prize winner who will be notified in early march. However, as one of the 25 finalists, you and a guest are invited to attend our press event on Thursday, April 17 at 10 a.m.
You will be one of the first riders to launch Superman: Ultimate Flight, the only coaster of its kind in the Northeast.

Again, thank you for your extraodinary essay and congradulations! We will be forwarding information to you on the press event and notify you if your essay made the "Top 10" or was selected as the Grand-Prize winner.
