Six Flags Over Texas 3/13

The park opened daily last weekend for the next 2 weeks for their Spring Break Out celebration. I haven't been to the park since the summer of '98 and was badly in need of a fix! My girlfriend and I got season passes for $39.99 and headed down to the park. Another reason for going is so I could break in my girlfriend because she's only ridden 1 coaster in her life before this trip.

We were at the park at 10:00 am when they opened. We actually got into the park about 10:30 after season pass processing. It was a good day. The crowds were light and the lines were reasonable. We didn't rush ourselves to do anything since we'll be back several more times. Flashback never opened that day which didn't bother me at all since I really do not like Vekoma Boomerangs.

We went straight to Mr. Freeze. We waited about 4 trains for the front seat. I know some people really aren't too fond of these rides, but I love it! The rush of being launched at 70 mph is awesome! I will admit that I should have worked myself into the rides a bit. I hadn't ridden in 2 years, so my body wasn't used to the forces and I felt it a little bit, but nothing to ruin my fun. My girlfriend didn't really know what to think of it, but she liked it. She was mad at me for putting her in the front seat. hehe

Next up was Batman: The Ride. I rode 4th car left seat. My only other B&M experience has been Raptor, but that was 5 years ago. I liked Batman. I liked it a lot, but it's just kind of ruined after riding Raptor. Oh well. I love B&M inverteds. Period. If it's a multi-looper, it needs to be a B&M inverted. I thought the trench near the end of the ride that it dove into was pretty neat.

We made our way over to the Runaway Mine Train and walked on. I love this little coaster. Being SFoT's very first coaster and Arrow Development's very first mine train coaster and dating back to 1966, this little ride still has it. My favorite part is still the final dive into ?? ?????? We went on Texas Chute Out. Nice relaxing little ride. I wish we'd get a Power Tower type ride, though. We then did the Dino Island 3-D thing. That was pretty neat, but not worth the longest wait of the day at nearly an hour. After that we pretty much relaxed and walked around for a while until we left. Next time we'll hit Judge Roy.

The Air Racer is gone this year and they're working on installing the scrambler in its place. I kinda liked Air Racer. Oh well. It's still great to be able to call SFoT, the one original SF park, my home park.
Great trip report! Six Flags Over Texas is a great park to visit, for all of you that don't live in Texas, you need to visit it. The park has a great mix of rides, all of which are unique and fun.

Mr. Freeze, Batman, and the Giant are probably the best rides there. Yeah, I too am am still amazed by the Linear Induction Launch on Mr. Freeze, and the smoothness and the all-around fun-factor on Batman.

I agree. I love this park. The park has such historic signifigance, but is all too often overlooked. They're supposed to be celebrating their 40th anniversary next year with a "Texas-sized attraction", so I'm hoping we'll get us a 200+ foot hyper finally.

I'll be in Austin in late-July for a show and am hoping after then if we have the time, money, and energy left, that we can roll down to San Antonio and hit Fiesta Texas. I've never been and this would be a good year with that new floorless. :)
