Haha, just finished watching a part on the 10 o'clock news and there was a section dedicated on the blackout at Over Georgia that left riders on Acrophobia stranded at the very top for more than an hour. And the same with The Great Gasp. (or whatever their parachute tower is called)
They showed footage of the Acrophobia ring SLOWLY descend the tower from the 161' point with riders looking distressed and feet danglingggg!!!

kRaXLeRidAh,
Why did you add a new thread on this topic when you replied to an existing one about the exact same incident just a half hour before posting this one?
Just adds to the clutter.

Again, Acrophobia is my favorite drop ride anywhere. Everyone is under this impression that it is something terrifying and hideous. The greatest part is on the coaster show, they saay you are up for 20 seconds, when it is actually a variable in timing if drop. I remember looking at my watch once while riding, and we were up for 40 seconds. BTW, kRaXLeRidAh, they have a ride op talk to people when they are at the top of the tower, and he usually tells people when you are about to drop, so for the people that are truly scared, that helps, but for dedicated Acrophobia-maniacs, it kinda ruins the experience.

Ha!! MillenniumForceX! How now brown cow indeed!
That ride op (90% of the times I've ridden it) has tricked you. Most of the time, the line they use is.. You will now drop in 10...9....8....7....6....5...
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSHH!

Sorrrrrrrry folks! Parks closed. The moose out front should have told you.

You're right about mag brakes not needing electricity to slow a fall, but you still need the juice to trigger the drop mechanism.

You're correct, it doesn't need electricity to stop, but it DOES need electricity to get pulled up to the top of the tower where the ring of seats is released.
EDIT: Dang you, Sheik, you beat me. :-p
