The former Jazzland Theme Park is one giant construction site as it is being transformed into Six Flags New Orleans for its April 5 opening. Improvements to the park, acquired by Six Flags last year, include more trees for shade, more air-conditioned buildings and two new roller coasters.

You do realize that these parks got 90% of their themeing before Six Flags bought them? Just like 90% of the theming at Six Flags New Orleans is going to be left over from Jazzland. SFI really isn't into themeing their parks. You'll get a little Looney Tunes stuff here and there and the Batman station should at least resemble something Gotham, but don't expect Six Flags to go all out. The new trees are nice, however. Planting a bunch of trees is a rare move for Six Flags, but these were extenuating circumstances.
"I still say New Orleans is just not a great market for an amusement park. I wish Six Flags good luck, because Mega Zeph is a real gem."
Well, New Orleans was ranked the 31st largest city in the US in 2000 by population. And while that might seem pretty far down the list, keep in mind that these following cities: Cleaveland #33, Kansas City #36, Atlanta #39, Minneapolis #45, and St. Louis #49 all support a fairly decent sized amusement park. And don't forget that Baton Rouge (pop over 200k) & Biloxi are only 90 min away from New Orleans.

I personally dislike New Orleans because they are thieves.... never steel sports teams from Charlotte, its all we got ( *=panthers had better be here to stay.....
