Six Flags New England/Lake Compounce/Quassy Aug 16th/17th

Since i splurged on a Six Flags pass early this summer, i figured now was as good a time as any to finally check out Six Flags New England and the reported awesomeness of Bizarro (Ride of Steel). And since the road back to Central PA takes one right past Lake Compounce and Quassy (two places i had also never been) a nice little trip just sort of fell into my lap....

Highlights:

Number of Coasters Ridden: 13

Number of Non-Coasters Ridden: 4

Lived up to the hype (Unsurprisingly): Biazzro and Boulder Dash

Lived up to the hype (Surprisingly): Wooden Warrior

The "Mean Streak" Award (For an awesome looking, but boring ride): Cyclone @ SFNE

Big Fun in a Little Package: WW and Pandemonium

Yep, it hurt: Flashback

Moment of non-credit whoring: Not bothering to ride Zoomerang @ LC after riding Flashback the day before.

Moment of total credit-whoring: Riding Little Dipper @ Quassy

Restraints Most Smelling like Cheese: Mind Eraser

Longest Train: Catwoman's Whip

Same Name but not nearly as awesome: Thunderbolt @ SFNE has nothing on Thunderbolt @ Kennywood.

Number of Cell Phones liberated by a coaster: 1

Number of Cell Phones retrieved and functional following liberation: 1

Other Random Notes:

-Rained the whole morning on the way to SFNE, as a result, park was all but empty. Lake Compounce the following day had almost the same number of people, but in a far smaller area.

-Biazzro is amazingly re-ride-able for a coaster that big/intense

-Not to sound cliched, but there is really nothing out there like Boulder Dash (at least in my experience so far)

-Wonder if it is the Timberliners or the ride itself, but Wooden Warrior was a total blast in a tiny package.

- A Burger @ LC was $3.99. Say wha?!

Cool trip report format. Did you get to ride Boulder Dash at night? I think that's when it goes from great to "Holy Crap, that was the best ride I've ever been on!"

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Alas, we had to get back to PA (and we wanted to hit Quassy as well) so no night rides on BD. Maybe next time....

Especially that downward rampy section right before the double-up into the turnaround. At night, it feels like it's never going to end, and those little bunny hills that just pick you up and slam you back down. That ride is phenomenal.
