What is it with this park announcing rides, and then asking for permission to build them?

Maybe the park gets the information from SFI *through* enthusiasts? ;~)

Yeah, this park has never really had any secrets over the years. Then again, I have at times questioned how important much of the secrecy really is.

The reason they do that is because Mass zoning laws are the worst in the country. They are not just adding a slide but they are expanding hurricane harbor and it will be close to the natural gas line that runs under the old original parking lot. You can follow the construction at sfneonline.org

The town of agawam approved the Expansion to Hurricane Harbor last night at the town meeting. Construction is expected to start in January. You can see the plans here, http://sfneonline.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1014&start=250

IIRC things seemed to slip out at these town meetings anyway. So, they probably figure it's better to get premature announcement out on their own terms.
