Six Flags Marine World to build Vertical Velocity

Posted | Contributed by Brandon Rodriguez

Six Flags Marine World will receive an Intamin Impulse Coaster, following the success of SupermanL Ultimate Escape at Six Flags Ohio.

Read the official Six Flags press release.

Maybe part of it's underground?
From the SFMW site: An advanced-design propulsion system applies sequentially pulsing electro-magnetic power to propel the train at high speeds along the 630-foot-long, U-shaped track.

SFGAm said 630' long too, with a 2,700ft ride cycle (same as what SFMW said).

Oh, and what do ya know! From the SFO site:
Top Speed 70 mph
Height 180 feet
Length 2,700

Wow, if I didn't know any better, I'd say those are all the same coasters! ;)

Except for the height of course. Somebody is not telling the truth, unless it's going to be buried 30ft beneath ground level.

Thank you Disney, thank you... *** This post was edited by Middleman on 2/7/2001. ***
Maybe the one @ S.F.M.W will have a longer station allowing them to launch it @70 m.p.h? Who knows?
Maybe SFMW was able to get the variance just recently.
Oooh, buried 30' below the ground, now THAT I'd have to see! Could explain them opening the ride TWO FULL MONTHS after the park opens! :)

If you think about it, an underground station and launch would be awesome. Still, I think that a tunnel/underground area would have been announced as part of the "features".

Is it just me or does Hypersonic look like one of those coasters you would see on Looney Toons?
that's kind of weird? 3 super invertigos and 2 impulse coasters. Maybe another six flags park will get one too.

2 for 1 in 2001:SFGAm all the way!!
2002:CPs year 2 rule!
Well Blink, they did say it was the third spiraling impulse. Maybe SFMW thought Linear Gale, an Intamin Impulse with no spiral in Japan, was also spiraling. Or maybe there will there's another un-announced one.

A Green Machine is rising at SFO!

There is a third one going to SFGAm.

Thank you Disney, thank you...
Oh yea, forgot that one...

X-Flight @SFWoA!
This flight won't be cancelled!
were will the queue line most likely be?
They have to put a loop in it before the twisted spike.

I do not believe that SFMW has a height limit of 150 feet. If they only had a height limit of 150 feet, then why are past rumors saying that SFMW will build a 200+ foot hypercoaster or 300+ foot S&S towers? It just doesn't make sense. I have a feeling that they will make the launch like Superman: The Escape at SFMM so that the trains will move at 70 m.p.h.
SFMW does have a certain height limit. Notice that both their tallest coasters are 150 ft. tall each and notice that ALL their coasters are the farthest attractions from the lake? Well SFMW can't build anything tall thats close to the lake (most likely due to resident complaints)...this is why the S&S towers were never built, and this is the same reason why SFMW chose not to build a hyper "yet" (believe me, they would have if they could). The solution, well I think they'll have to buy out the fairgrounds which will probably be available by 2002 or 2003 when their 3-year contract to the city ends. By then, I don't know how SFMW can pull it off but the farther to the lake is where they can build those 300 ft. S&S towers and 200+ ft. hypercoaster. Also, that will probably be when they start expanding and move up their main entrance in front of Roar (or right next to it) most likely in 2003. What they'll use to get people across the street, maybe a monorail system/bridge. I'm not so sure yet but "I think" they'll use most of the fairgrounds as parking and expand where the current parking lot is spreading their current rides over there and build only the necessary attractions farthest from the lake. Anyway, I hope V-2 will be a blast! I have a feeling the station/launch will be underground if the 150 ft. and 70 mph stats turn out to be correct.
when and if they expand into the fairgrounds i am hoping SFMW will build a B&M speed coaster or inverted. Or at least a giovonal hyper similar to titan and goliath.
It Will fly off The track
