GOLIATH
2000, Giovanola Hypercoaster
The trains are extremely comfortable. Reminded me of Gerstlauer trains on Twisted Sisters but with deeper seat wells and better restraints. Five coaches (3x2 seating) articulated. The track is reminiscent of B&M track. The layout, IMHO, is quite short. How can a 250'+ tall coaster be less than 5000' long? I've been on longer coasters that are half as high. However, Goliath packs quite a whallop in a short distance. The lift hill is quite noisy. With the sound of those anti-rollbacks, you know that you're on a big coaster. The lift is also starting to show that it is indeed in a Six Flags park; it's starting to slow at the crest. Doesn't matter. As soon as you crest, you see the pinhole. What's the pinhole? That's the size of the tunnel opening from the top of the lift. Is this train I'm strapped in to going to fit into that space? You betcha! A few moments later the train speeds down the first drop heading right for the pinhole. As you get closer the pinhole gets larger and larger. Once you're in it, you see that it's quite large. After you exit the tunnel, you enter the turn above Colossus. When you complete the turn, you dive towards the ground again only to pull out and enter the long airtime hill. It's a long low parabolic hill. However, I found that the airtime on this hill isn't as strong as on Shivering Timbers or Raging Bull. This is probably due to the fact that Goliath's hill isn't as steep. On the plus side, big airtime is big airtime. After the airtime hill you turn left and rise into the oh so necessary block/trim brakes. As all who have ridden have said, "I'm glad those brakes are there". You'll see why. After the blocks, the train dives down and left into what can only be described as the best set of turns I've ever seen on a coaster. As for the ride, RR is probably my favorite standup. It's smooth, fast, and has nice pacing. The two opposite dive loops in succession is interesting, as is the few spots of airtime. The one thing I miss on this ride are the quick low s-turns on Mantis.

A very good suspended. Not to strong like PKI's Top Gun or PCWo's Vortex, but way better than CP's Iron Dragon. Lot's of turns and quick dives buried in trees and above a log ride. A nice fun ride.
COLOSSUS
1977? Wooden Racer
Although I'm from Michigan, I call the Ohio parks my home, so I know how to recognize a good wooden coaster being tamed yet neglected. This was also my first Morgan wood coaster trains. Fiberglass should not be running on wood (see a later TR from this trip for a rebuttal :) )

GOLD RUSHER
1971 Arrow Mine Train
Arrow finally got a mine train right with this one. Of the first generation mine trains, this one is probably my favorite. Great headchoppers, quick turns, good helix finish. Being built on the side of a hill doesn't hurt either.

Probably the one coaster in the park I was looking forward to the most (thank you very much _Rollercoaster_). Despite the butchered trains, the first half of the ride was very good. It was fast, had airtime, very fun. Then we hit the loop approach. After a hard trim the train dives toward the loop which is still very strong. As for the ride, RR is probably my favorite standup. It's smooth, fast, and has nice pacing. The two opposite dive loops in succession is interesting, as is the few spots of airtime. The one thing I miss on this ride are the quick low s-turns on Mantis.

A very good suspended. Not to strong like PKI's Top Gun or PCWo's Vortex, but way better than CP's Iron Dragon. Lot's of turns and quick dives buried in trees and above a log ride. A nice fun ride.

Although I'm from Michigan, I call the Ohio parks my home, so I know how to recognize a good wooden coaster being tamed yet neglected. This was also my first Morgan wood coaster trains. Fiberglass should not be running on wood (see a later TR from this trip for a rebuttal :) )

Arrow finally got a mine train right with this one. Of the first generation mine trains, this one is probably my favorite. Great headchoppers, quick turns, good helix finish. Being built on the side of a hill doesn't hurt either.

Probably the one coaster in the park I was looking forward to the most (thank you very much _Rollercoaster_). Despite the butchered trains, the first half of the ride was very good. It was fast, had airtime, very fun. Then we hit the loop approach. After a hard trim the train dives toward the loop which is still very strong.
