The list of closed or broken rides on my visit 3 weeks ago:

X, Flashback, right side of Colossus, right side of Superman, Circus Wheel, Free Fall, Metro, Orient Express, Scrambler, Sierra Twist, Sky Tower, Spin Out, Tidal Wave, and Yosemite Sam Sierra Falls.

Pathetic.

umm I didnt count right and left sides but the Right side of colossus never runs. same with flashback :(

The line took up 45 minets to get throw because they could not make enough cheese bread and people would not let other people order without their Cheese bread.

this made me laugh out loud. i'm sure i'm not the only one confused here...

Yeah. That's a pretty awesome sentence.

Not true. Colossus "alternates" between operating both tracks - similar to Superman The Escape. Where the ride does not run both sides just to cut down on expenses involving staffing both stations. One track will be refurbished while the other operates, and after a certain time, it reverses.

Sky Tower reopened in May of 2006 - the Saturday that Tatsu opened to the public. The Sky Tower operates sporadically only because staffing is a huge issue at the park and they will have priority attractions to staff full-time, and that would be the roller coasters. Most if not all of their foreign employees are now back in their home country I believe they were on some contracted foregin exchange work regime, and with kids back in school and all, the pool in which they draw seasonal employees dries up in a flash.

How much did the throw cost? I hope it was worth waiting 45 minutes!
I think Shapiro has made it clear what he'd like to see happen with this park. He wants to unload it not to a competing park chain, but to a land developer. What's unfortunate is this causes a number of things to happen.

(a) I doubt they are providing any kind of incentives for great park operations since the park's success at this point would be counter productive to plans.

(b) Employees not sure if they are going to have a job in a few months while being told how much their park sucks by the boss sure doesn't encourage any sense of pride or motivation in their work.

(c) This causes the public to agree with Shapiro that there is something tragically wrong with the park. The blame tends to shift from the boss who has already given up on what is the West's largest (only) thrill park.

I'm not at all surprised by the negative reports of Magic Mountain. I'm disappointed how public opinion has turned against Magic Mountain while Shapiro and the company has remained clear of blame for retarded park management.

It's not hard to get the public to hate a park. Even a great park can be despised for the stupid running of rides. For me it’s a choice to criticize the park, or the people running it. I don't blame ride staff; I think staff management play the critical role, especially at this time given the park's circumstances.

You can test this theory out on RCT if you'd like. Kick up admission prices, reduce staff while cutting salaries and see what happens at your perfect park. Maybe in RCT4 they'll factor in the effects of CEO's publicly ridiculing their park while announcing their plans to dump it. *** Edited 9/18/2006 5:11:12 PM UTC by rc-madness***

I am reminded of the Solace trip....there was a particularly fun employee explaining that Ninja was down "until furrther notice". SO, we decided to have some fun and ask about OTHER rides that might be open. I think I *inquired* about 8-10 rides in the park that I knew were closed, and everyone had a good laugh. Really GOOD employee, REALLY sad park.

Knott's and Disneyland were fully staffed. There were more than enough employees at both of those parks to keep all the rides open (barring Xcelerator which was broken).

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
I think my report is being taken roung.

I enjoyed my time at the park I really did even tho X was closed and didnt et on tatsu...

So, either the people waiting for cheesy bread stood in line and wouldn't let anyone else get waited on until they got their bread
OR
the workers didn't bother waiting on anyone else until everybody got their cheesy bread. Damn you, cheesy bread!

Hey, winning. Glad you had a good time at the park anyway. Sounds like you made the most of the situation.

Some friendly advice--- slow down with your typing, and keep checking your spelling though. It makes the reports much easier for the rest of us to read. Read your posts through once before you click on submit.

Hehe. I almost always multitask when im on message boards lol..

The fast pass is definitely worth it's weight in gold when it comes to riding Tatsu. It's only 15 bucks for four passes. You get to completely bypass the que. The only drawback is you only get to ride one of the last three cars on Tatsu.
^^
I constantly multitask too, but it's never caused me to forget how to spell.
Three Questions:
1) Why is X closed (and has been closed for a month?)
2)Why is Skytower closed? (Thought they just revamped the thing)
3) What happened to SFMM? (Wasn't it once the park ALWAYS on Discovery channel.. ALWAYS all over the TV... now ts just...as ghetto as the bronx..run down and full of gangs;))

Well I just went this past Sunday 17th and it was a great trip to the mountain. The only major ride down was X and a little later in the day Deja Vu was having lift problems so it went to down, don't know if it reopened.

First ride Tatsu 30 minute wait, both stations running, two trains op. OPs were doing good with dispatching the trains GREAT great great ride i love it.

Second Ride Riddlers Revenge about a 10 minute wait except for the front of the train, Two train op, Ride is running absolutely amazing imo, the older this thing gets the better it performs. Imo the train is just tearing through it's course now the speed is just vicious on this thing. Your actually getting some decent airtime over that bunnyhop now RRv is just GREAT IMO.

Third Batman TR again about 15 minute wait except for front row two train op, I just waiting to here the News headlines that Batman has ripped itself from the track and has killed what 32 riders lol. This thing is running amazing as usual. I don't know if it's because I've gotten older or what but Batman is leaving me very lightheaded and disoriented with my body tingling especially my feet, it's crazy I love this ride.

Fourth was Scream which was about a 5 minute except for the front in two train op. Let me say Scream was not highly praised ride in my book I found it to be very blah imo, that changed Sunday. Scream kicked ass this past Sunday, I was totally blown away by it. This ride is a completely different beast in the evening compared to morning mid day blah rides. Another thing to love about Scream is this ride never has a line:)

Fifth ride Goliath which was about a 15 minute wait with the last row alittle longer two train op. I rode in car 1 third seat and got a great ride. The Train didn't seam to crawl over the crest of the first drop like it usually does, in fact it felt like you were being push over. The drop was nice and floaty with very very stong forces at the bottom, nice float comming out of the turnaround drop and pure float over the bunnyhop. My only probelm with Goliath is it's hitting the Mid Course brake run extremly hard this thing is going to injure someone whiplash or something it's just ridicilous same goes for the ending brake run.

Sixth ride Viper two train op walk on great ride with it's usual rough spots, it too seam to be running faster then the norm because in the loops and corkscrews I got a wierd vibrating vison type thing it was crazy especially in the corkscrews.

One rant .........if I by a 3.50 cent soda I atleast want an fing lid, my god SF is to cheap to provide lids for the cups just sad. My friend member of the GP was also pissed because he spilled coke on his jeans and white shoes thanks to not having a 2 cent plastic lid on his 3.50 cent soda. Way to go SF keep making your paying customers happy, you such a great job.....Not

Also whats up with all the closed food places and shops? It wasn't that crowded Sunday but it still wasn't empty either and over half of the parks food and shops were closed. None of the food/drink carts were out or open, hell we waited longer to get our lidless sodas then we did at any ride which is pathetic.

Anyways the day was good the rides we went on were running great, park was also pretty clean except for fort le john ahaahahahahah I wanted to step into a full body decontamination chamber after using that pit stop, and the food service was horrible.

1. The lift-motor blew out. The problem is being addressed at the attraction as I type this reply.

2. They did revamp it. It reopened on Tatsu's launch date. If you had read through this thread you would have found out that some attractions (including Sky Tower) close sporadically due to lack of adequate staffing.

3. What happened to SFMM? It's been going down a steady decline over the past few years that's what happened to it. However, there is no longer a gang problem like there was in the early and mid-90's. This decline I'm talking about involves alienation of certain guest demographics, lack of infrastructure improvement and upkeep, and poor operations stemming from horrible management.

When I went on saterday i know one of the sides for tatsu was not working someone told me while i was in line for Galioth.
