Six Flags Magic Mountain, 8/20/09

Hours: 10:30-8:00, but I was actually there until 9:00. More about that later. I got a regular Q-bot this time. The $19 price with my discount is too good to pass up. Weather was also very nice. Only felt about 85 degrees which is great in mid-August when it is usually feels like a sauna in Valencia. Or compared to my trip last month, when it was about 105 degrees. I got on 39 total rides which is the 3rd highest total I have ever had at SFMM. Tatsu was closed when the park first opened but it was running by the first time I rode it at 12:00 so that was no big deal. I also saw Jay Thomas at the entrance gate when the park first opened.

Here is the day in order:

Terminator Salvation: once, walk on. Since there was no line, they were letting people walk all the way through and skip the pre-show. This was great since I went back there first on purpose to ride it before that part of the park got too busy and later in the day it had a 1 1/2 hour line.

Deja Vu: once, walk on.

Terminator Salvation: walk on twice. Switched rows and got back on.

Deja Vu: once, walk on.

Terminator Salvation: once, walk on.

Tatsu: once. 5 mins with reservation. 1 1/2 hour line.

Ninja: once, walk on.

Superman: twice, walk ons.

Ninja: once, walk on.

Tatsu: once, 5 mins with reservation. 1 1/2 hour line.

Revolution: once, walk on.

Viper: twice. 15 mins the first time. By the time I rode, my reservation was ready so I walked around and rode again. 4 train wait for the front row.

Log Jammer: once, walk on with reservation. 30 min line.

Canyon Blaster: twice, walk ons. The first two times I have ever rode it. It was the only coaster at SFMM that I had never been on. I finally decided to ride so that I will have been on every coaster in the park.

Goliath: twice, used reservation and while I was in line almost no more people came. Switched rows and rode again.

Colossus: once, walk on.

Scream: twice, walk ons.

Colossus: once, walk on.

Batman: once, 5 mins. with reservation. 30 min line.

Goliath: once, 10 mins. Went back and rode it again, since next reservation on Batman was 15 mins away.

Batman: once, 5 mins with reservation. 30 min line.

Riddler's Revenge: twice, 10 mins. each with 2 reservations. 45 min line.

Gold Rusher: twice, walk ons. Rode twice without leaving my seat.

Jet Stream: once, walk on.

Tatsu: once, 10 mins with reservation. 1 1/2 hour line.

Ninja: twice, walk ons.

Deja Vu: once, 5 mins with reservation. 1 hour line.

Revolution: once, walk onto front row.

Viper: once, walk on

X2: once, 1 1/2 hours. Got in line at 7:30. So I ended up being there until 9:00 even though the park closed at 8:00.

39 total rides: X2-1, Viper-3, Revolution-2, Tatsu-3, Ninja-4, Superman-2, Terminator Salvation-4, Deja Vu-3, Jet Stream-1, Gold Rusher-2, Riddler's Revenge-2, Batman-2, Scream-2, Colossus-2, Goliath-3, Log Jammer-1, Canyon Blaster-2

My mother (1946-2009) once asked me why I go to Magic Mountain so much. I said I feel the most alive when I'm on a roller coaster.

Sounds line another great day at the park. I am amazed that you got that much done with a RFP. It sounds like everyone was just on a few ride lines.

Before you can be older and wiser you first have to be young and stupid.

I was surprised too. The GFP I got in July was somewhat of a one shot deal, since it was I gift and I did not pay for it. In the future I will be using the RFP on most of my visits.
