Six Flags layoffs continue across the company

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

From KTLA/Los Angeles:

Six Flags Entertainment, the parent company for Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain, will cut 135 full-time jobs at its California theme parks. Six Flags also eliminated all 27 theme park president positions nationwide.

From The Charlotte Observer:

For the second time this year, Carowinds has laid off an undisclosed number of employees. The layoffs come after parent company Six Flags Entertainment Corp. announced this month that it would be reducing its full-time staff systemwide by over 10%.

Right. High quality Six Flags parks don’t exist with maybe the exception of Fiesta Texas.

The sad fact is that the quality Taft parks have now been thrown into that mess.

I don’t know about UBS’s methodology but maybe it could be accurate?

Not submitting this separately because it's paywalled, but the headline gives the general idea:

I personally don't get when people put SFFT on some pedestal. It feels like any other SF park. There was nothing special (operationally or ride-wise) that makes it stand out from a handful of others.

It's on the better side of SF parks, sure, I'll give it that at least.

If it’s a Six flags parks, it’s given that operations are not great and I agree the rides are average

However the park appears better maintained and themed. It just doesn’t seem to have the typical trashy atmosphere of a Six Flags park it’s more on the level of one of the themed parks from the Cedar Fair chain

Even though they’ve trashed some of the park was super hero theminh now, at least it’s all in one centralized themed. area

They also have some well themed queues like Poltergeist, the vertical drop coaster and pirate dark ride. Which is very unlike a Six Flags park.

They also have maintained some form of live entertainment. That park was built by Gaylord as a show park so it has multiple theaters. Their main Christmas production is quite fantastic.

Don’t forget the log flume, the evening fireworks, and the employees looking like all will to live hasn’t been sucked out of them.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I just came across this sketch which reminded me of Selim Bassoul and Six Flags:
