Six Flags launches new Web site

Six Flags has launched a new Web site. Visit the site at www.sixflags.com.

After maybe 20 minutes of browsing it, I must say I was expecting more. Sure, the layout is much cleaner and the graphics are certainly much more appealing. But you still get a very corporate feel from it in my opinion. Certain rides give you quite a bit of info, videos, and pictures, while others give you barely anything. Certain family rides have more information than major coasters. There are more pictures on the site, and usually one for each ride, but there are still rides lacking any images, or ones that have a picture of a completely different ride. A big complaint I would have is that they seem to use stock images in order to make each park look more exciting than it really is. For example, they use pictures of SFGAm's Hurricane Harbor, a great water park no doubt, for parks whose water park isn't quite up to par. This in my opinion sets the standards guests will have for each park a little too high, which will in the end result in disappointment. When people go to websites, they get excited about what they see, and hope that the physical park or place will replicate the images. Putting pictures of other roller coasters or other parks in place for the real thing is a grave mistake.

I for one love going to Six Flags parks, as I think they all have a great individual flavor to them. I don't think the website expresses that. They want you to go to all of their parks, as they say they are all unique. I completely agree, but the website just doesn't show that. Its still way too corporate in my view.

The only thing I do not like about it from a layout standpoint is the Parks hours are hard to read since you have to put your curser over every date in order to find the hours for that date. They need to color code it. It makes it much easier.

From a content standpoint. The content for most of the parks is still out of date. There is incorrect information thought the entire website. Maps that are from 2003 on some pages. Simple put it, Six Flags needs to update the content of the website. They need to hire a least one person for each park and there job is just to maintain the website. Making sure it is always up to date.

Since when is Mr.Freeze @ SFStL made by "Phoenix Rides?" I thought Mr.F was made by Premier?? http://www.sixflags.com/stLouis/Rides/MrFreeze.aspx
