I need to ask a question before I start. What is so bad about SFKK? Whenever I see something on here, or talk to someone about SFKK they laugh, or make fun of it. The park was really very good, there were only a few negatives to me, and here they are: 1) Not all attractions were open, (but it's labor day weekend, and as we've already seen on here, much of the workforce are college students...plus, if you've been to a SF's park before, ride availability is always sketchy!). 2) Having one thin bridge connecting one-half of the park to the other was a bit silly. 3) Greezed Lightning! Didn't ride it, didn't want to, looked outdated and dumb. But now, the good stuff! CHANG was the best stand-up coaster I've ever rode, even with rain pelting me, it was great. T2 was short, but interesting and smooth, (esp. for a Vekoma coaster). I really like the black w/ purple color combination. TWISTED TWINS was a fun ride that would've been great if both trains were running, after all they are dueling coasters. Next was the ROLLER SKATER, (yes, I know it's referred to as a kiddie coaster, but it has jr. coaster speed). My daughter is really starting to embrace coaster riding, and she loved this thing enough to ride it three times in literally 10 min.! That's daddy's girl, (she's only three)! After a good, reasonably priced lunch at Gator Bayou we headed to THUNDER RUN. Clearly my favorite ride in the whole park. This woody rocked! It's a very unusual design with curves that rank as some of the steepest I've ever seen on a woodie. A very smooth ride, and it maintains a constant speed throughout, very well done! Lastly, on the coaster end was ROADRUNNER EXPRESS. Our longest wait of the day, (approx. 20 min.) because it's a wild mouse with single 4-person cars instead of a train. If you've never ridden a wild mouse before, they are fun little coasters, that should be experienced. The turnarounds up top will scare the H-E- double hockey sticks out you. Lastly, (again) my favorite flat ride for the day was RAINBOW and my friend James loved BREAKDANCE, (the latter was totally insane in my opinion.) As a whole though, I really loved SFKK, enough that even the torential rains didn't keep me back! We will return to SFKK!.
How many parks have you been to before SFKK?
Why does that matter crazy kal? I have been to plenty of big game parks and I also found SFKK to be a pleasant park.

It was clean, the coaster selection is decent, and the employees were fine from what I saw.

Chang is a kick butt standup. Thunder Run blew me away. Greezed Lightnin' brought back memories of Tidal Wave.

This park also has plenty of flat rides which was nice. The waterpark being in the center of the park itself was convenient.

The negatives to me were the 1-train operation on every coaster there. The other was T2. That is a torture device on steel track.

While I wouldn't make the trip from Chicago just for this park, I will certainly visit it again when I include PKI and HW to the list.

T2 is smooth?

What are you smoking? And can you share it please?

I can't agree with you that Greezed Lightening is "outdated and dumb." I rode it as Viper at SFOG, and was blown away. The loop has so many g's, especially backwards, and it was way more exciting and smoother than any Vekoma Boomerang. Considering how old the design is, I think it stood the test of time well - definitely a world class ride.

I suppose it doesn't look like much, so i guess i see how you could have that opinion, but ride it next time you get a chance - I'll be you'll be surprised.

You know, I've been on my fair share of coasters and I know what it feels like to ride one. What I really don't get is why everybody and their brother fusses about this coaster or that coaster being rough. (I'm not picking on any one person in particular, just people in general that complain about a coaster not being smooth) For those of you not in the know, you are in fact riding a coaster...not riding in a car that has the luxury of shock absorbers and suspension that takes the brunt of the turns and twists. It's not meant to feel like your sliding along a sheet of wet glass.

Even the best of coaster makers/designs are a bit on the rough side. For example, I'm a huge Intamin fan. I like everything they've made that I have actually ridden, but even Millennium Force and TTD are not the smoothest. There are moments of "roughness" in every coaster no matter the design, or the manufacturer. And please spare me the "oh but it's such a headbanger" song-and-dance. Look at the restraints that are surrounding you and tell me how your not supposed to come in contact with them at any point of the ride. Frankly, I wouldn't really want to ride on a coaster that had no "bumps and bounces". If I was looking for that, I'd get into a car and head down a stretch of good highway.

Someone must have been at the park on a good day or i hit it twice on bad days because even by Sf standards(which are low too begin with) this was a substandard park.
The 2 times i visited the park was very dirty, numerous rides were closed and the employee's were just awful, the food was awful and i found the park to have only a few redeeming qualities(thank god i didnt pay extra and got in with my season pass).
Thunder Run was a excellant coaster!!!! And Chang was also good(of course 1 train operation is awful). But from the setup of the park to only opening the front park when the parks opens in the morning to all the other garbage i saw made this the worst theme/amusement park ive been too.

The son of beast restraints own the take the banging away from your head and put it on yo knees. Son of beast as far as roughness is the only coaster to make me say man that hurt. There is something to be said for rough and smooth coasters. I sure as heck wouldnt enjoy riding sob as much with the over the shoulder style bar's. Really smooth coasters are sweet cuase they are smooth and really rough coasters are also sweet cause they are like a wild beast you gotta tame :-D

Krazy Kal...6 SF parks including SFKK. And after riding coasters like Serial Thriller (SFWoA), Rock-n-Roller Coaster (DisneyWorld), and SOB, any other coaster is smooth to me! I was not fair to Greezed Lightnin', and in the future I'll do my best to not criticize coasters I don't ride, sorry. Bob O...The qualities I mentioned above about SFKK were even a surprise to me since my worst park experience was at a SF park. SFWoA in Cleveland was attrocious, (though most of the coasters were good, at least the ones that were open!). But lastly, please don't be so quick to slam others about what they think about certain coasters. Everybody has differing views and opinions about our likes and dislikes, that's what makes these forums so fun to come to all the time. Were all different...T2 was smooth to me, and fun!

Chadley,

Just for clairfication, Greezed Lightin IS the Tidal Wave from SFGam. And when I went this summer, it wasn't running like it did as Viper at SFOG. They have done some work on the launch mechanism and the loop was -> in my perception -> no where near as intense g and speedwise as it has been.

My other thoughts: T2 is a standard SLC. IF you take care of them maintenance wise like Wild Adventures does with Hangman, they are quite smooth and do not hurt to ride.

Twisted Twins looks great...if both sides are running. Of course, G trains are not the best in the world...

Chang is also suffering from maintenance issues....headbanging on a B&M...nothing like that on the Scorcher.

Thunder run -> it's okay.

Road Runner and the Skater are just fine.

The park clearly isn't maintaining their rides, or the park itself for that matter. Very dirty.

I don't hold them responsible for the bridge, since they aren't allowed to build another one, but there is no excuse for the almost complete lack of directional signage.

Just my 2 cents

Chipster

Left SFKK ater riding each coaster once in order to spend more time at Holiday World

Chadley, i re-read my post and i dont think i slammed anyone regarding their likes/dislikes about coasters and just mentioned the 2 i really enjoyed.
Bob O...I'm sorry about the way I worded my sentences. My part about not slamming people was intended for Krazy Kal and Bannister. I appologize for any misunderstandings!
Chadley, no offense taken!!!
Chadley , I think I love you.

1. Chang is the most intense thing i've ever ridden , and that second corkscrew is wacked.

2. T2 was worth a re-ride , and I love all SLC's . I mean sure, there's roughness , but the padding on the restraints more than make up for it.

3.Thunder Run is one awesome woodie , and I love ejector air. And twisted sisters was fun , even though I only rode Stella(my mom got a kick out of that , it's her name) , and the mechanics who were working on Lola waved at us whilke we were riding.

4.Greezed lightning was so much fun , and the backwards hangtime in the loop rocked.Roller skater was also worth a few rides , because we got everyone on the train trying to catch leaves as we past by the trees, the ride-op even encouraged us!

5. Besides that , there are a few negatives.

a.The park layout is lacking , and we didn't even know there was a path by the dragsters.

b. The bridge stinks , but there is nothing that can be done to it.

c.The mechanics could make the rides better , and everything could use some paint.

d.Breakdance hurt! ;)

6. Some more positives are that the waterpark was greatly positoned , the park had numorous good ole' flats, and The ferris wheel was sweet.

All-in-all I liked the park.It has potential to be better than it is.And Greezed Lighnin' Ruled.

Yeah..... The Pheonix , Raven, Cornball, And Cyclops are all cool , But Superman the Escape still has the biggest single moment of airtime!
