Six Flags in Dundee

My sister who works for a concrete company told me about how they are working on getting a bid for Six Flags. Six Flags bought land up in Dundee MI near the Cabela's store. She doesn't know if it will be an amusment park or water park though. She told me this last thursday before we went to a concert, so this news is relativly new.

Being originally from Dundee, I've heard this rumor time and time again from my family. As much as I'd like to see a park in SE MI, I don't think it'll happen. Six Flags hasn't built a new park since SFStL and I just can't see them building a new amusement park out of the blue. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if someone built a water park there.

Shivering Tim and I had this discussion last year, since I heard the same thing from the Head of the Recreation dept. of Dundee. No matter how much I would love a park 1/2 hour from home, I don't think SF is in the mood to create from scratch. I see them as buyers of established parks and "attempting" to make them better.

There's nothing like a woodie...
Back in the 70's Cedar Point had options on land in the Irish Hills to build another park. Needless to say things didn't work out and they wound up buying Valleyfair instead.
Doesn't Cedar Point still own the land in the Irish Hills(a great area, I may add)? A theory is that they were going to put Gemini there, but they bought Valleyfair! and put the Gemini at Cedar Point(there was a thread at GTTP on this, I'm not a genius).

I doubt Cedar Fair would ever build in the Irish Hills. Cedar Point gets plenty of revenue from the metro Detroit area(all the kids at my school go at least once a year).
