Great America has lost so much under Six Flags they owe us this major thrill ride. The last one we had Shockwave was removed 11 years ago. Plus they have to look at numbers. Going every year to Great America the crowds getting smaller. Hey, we love short wait for rides during the early season and week day operation however, it doesn't pay the bills. Last year Great America didn't make the cut off of 2.2 million guests...for such a huge market. In the 1990's several times they broke 3 million guests. Goliath will bring people back to this park and infuse the cash it needs to makeup for X Flights costs to build. Never once in 13 visits have we stood in overflow quening. It's a straight shot to the station. Viper is 25 minute waits...nothing. Demon on many days is a walk on or reride even in the front row. Guests here while in line constantly brag about their trips to Cedar Point or Kings Island, what does that tell you? We live so close to the other major parks and since they keep adding thrills we venture to them. Don't worry we are losing Ragin Cajun one of my favorites and who know what else. Plus this should seal the coaster deal for quiet a while in Gurnee. 2015 we probably will get another Aqua Twist or show. This is our year we don't come close to the coaster count of other Six Flags Parks and I for one am glad we are getting Goliath.
I'm actually surprised that there would be complaints about the Six Flags investments for next year. The fact that they are adding a huge drop tower and building a few new major coasters (or renovating old ones) by a premier coaster firm seems pretty aggressive. Cedar Fair is building...one new coaster? Some water slides? I'm thinking Six Flags has positioned themselves well for the coming year. Especially if you look at the success of Outlaw Run, Iron Rattler, and NTG. Rocky Mountain Construction doing more work for SF can only spell more money for the parks. Just because one does not like the rides Six Flags has added does not mean the rides are not a good idea generally speaking.

Considering Six Flags doesn't release individual attendance figures, how do you know this to be true? Or is this your make believe scenario.
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
I especially love it when people who live near top-tier parks complain about stuff. "Guys, we've got four B&Ms, but they're taking away our spinning mouse! We get so shafted out here!"
I miss the simpler times when it was just Timber-Rider complaining about Michigan's Adventure not getting anything new. Speaking of which...

I think this could be turned into a watching sports analogy. Anybody who complains about management decisions about theme parks is that annoying guy who yells at the head coach in sporting events. The people who are running six flags has years of experience, and you do also, coasterhond. Your years of experience come from rct just as the sports heckler has his only experience in Madden.
Tyler, I refuse to take that from somebody who has ridden LESS THAN HALF as many roller coasters I have (according to your track record). I just tend to be a visual person and when I visit a park I can imagine and see where a new ride would be feasible and possibly doable. Maybe my vision might be limited but then again imagination is what has started INNUMERABLE awesome projects. So Ill thank you to keep your pernicious and virulent analogies to yourself. Oh and for the record....There are two very good coaster buddies of mine here in Texas (whom have also been to FAR MORE PLACES THAN YOU) who share my sentiment so please dont think that these are the rantings of a lone idealist.

I want to know why SFMM didn't get a new coaster. They haven't gotten a new one since the last one.
Haha! Funny enough, they will! It may have flown under the radar with the other more exciting announcements...but next season, Magic Mountain will introduce their 19th coaster (how ridiculous is this number??). It's a junior coaster though.
Well, Coasterhound, if we're gonna break out the rulers and start measuring, I've ridden far more than you, and I still think you've got it wrong. It's okay to actually wait a few years between major installations. With that said, I fail to see how one's track record has anything to do with how qualified one is to comment on a company's expansion strategy, but hey, that's where the conversation went.
Oh, and kRaXLeRidAh, you're exactly right. I can't believe I forgot that. I should've specified "major coaster," but alas, I must live with my mistake. ;)

Coasterhound, you are an idiot if you think that how many coasters you have on your track record means anything at all in relation to anything anyone posts here.
Ron Witrzek, you sound like you are complaining that your park got a unique new B&M last year and is getting a unique woody next year. Aren't you happy at all for the new rides?
As far as those line wait times go, I can go to any big theme park one day and have virtually no wait in line, and the next have a very long wait. I'd also be very interested to hear where you got you attendance figures from.
Most people know that I dislike Six Flags, however, I don't see anything to yawn at concerning the new additions for '14.

I simply love the way you are all ganging up on me. Marvelous. Well I guess since my thoughts are irrelevant, Ill drop the issue. But Ill also say some of you have CLEARLY DEMONSTRATED why someone I met in Chicago has a less than favorable opinion of you. So everyone get your last digs in while the lynching continues. If Im gonna hang here from a tree like my ancestors you all might as well enjoy it. So have fun.
Someone in Chicago has a less than favorable opinion of us? Oh noes.

If that statement isn't a prime example of the stereotypically elitist attitude that enthusiasts as a group get a bad rap for, I don't know what is.

ridiculous (adj) - deserving or inviting derision or mockery; absurd.

So little thought was put into this post. SFGAm far outstrips its onetime twin CGA in every category, in quality and quantity. Thanks to Six Flags's management. And all you can do is complain about some ****ty parking lot coaster that got removed a decade ago.

Sigh. Holy butthurt.
No one in this thread has even been remotely rude or discourteous to you in any way. Disagreement is not aggression.
If you get this worked up over someone disagreeing with your opinions, then perhaps the internet is not for you. (and CoasterBuzz certainly isn't)
^Yes.
That response by Coasterhound is so out of proportion to what's been said.

The number doesn't matter. I'm not claiming that I know better than you. I'm claiming that the big boys who made the decisions know more than you.
I can see your side of the argument. You have YEARS of awesome experience. You even almost bEat the Electric Fields level iN rct 2. ALMOST
Coasterhound36, where's your cred? You've been a member here since 2007 and you've only recieved 8 votes.
:-)
Gonch said that no one was rude or discourteous towards you in any way, but I disagree. I may have come at you a bit hash, Coasterhound, by saying that you might be an idiot. However, you had it coming. You should realize that:
A. People here don't equate a bigger track record with how right you are in any particular topic of conversation. It's really one of those unwritten rules around here.
B. No amusement park owes anyone anything, as far as new additions go. That kind of attitude is perceived as stupid around here, fyi. And that's not even pointing out that SFGAme has had many nice additions within the last several years and is well-known to be one of the best SF parks in the chain. I always have friends (like that someone from Chicago) telling me that a trip to that park will totally change my poor opinion of the chain.
C. The last major thrill ride at SFGAm was not Superman, it was last years X-Flight. Don't complain. Can you imagine how many people would love to have that ride at a park near them?
D. What does your ancestors have anything to do with it? Race-baiting is a very unlikable quality in this day and age.
E. CoastersBuzz is all about great discussions. You have to back up what you say and you have to be able to defend your stance when called out. If you stick around here and participate, you might learn a lot, and not just about coasters either. You will also learn how to get along with others and how to accept others, even if you disagree with them.
F. I could go on and on, but I am already getting carried away. Smile and be happy with what you have. A recap; No one is better than anyone else, and an amusement park doesn't owe anyone anything. No one here cares about the color of your skin. If you can't take the heat, get out of the frying pan.
Edited to add the letter R and the word "here."
