Six Flags Great America, outside of Chicago, is dropping admission prices for the 2002 season by three dollars. Their season pass, however, will increase in price.

You both make good points about what I had to say. But, if parks did charge the same for season passes, then it would not matter, since no one would be loosing money. That way, us coaster nuts won't have to try and plan which park to get our passes at...they all would be the same price.
But, would the parks loose that much money? I mean, if you look at all the season passes that are sold, I would take a guess that most of them are by the GP, and not coaster people like ourselves. So, if a few hundread people buy their passes at SFKK instead of SFGAm, what is SFGAm really down? If we all live near SFGAm, we will probably go to SFGAm more then SFKK. In fact, last year I got my pass from SFKK, and never once went back(in fact, they were closed when I went, so I have yet to go to SFKK and ride anything). I visited SFGAm over 30 times with a SFKK pass. But, SFGAm still got my money, since I purchased a SFGAm parking pass (which I had no problem doing, even though I had free parking with my SFKK pass at SFKK).
My point here is that SFGAm still got money from me, and they did all season (food, merchandise, games, etc, etc). But, if their price was the same at SFKK's was last year ($39.99) then there would have not been a problem.
So, my whole point is this...either the SF parks need to agree on a season pass price so they are all the same, or the parks should allow you to purchase at one, and process at another. They've done it in the past, and I think they should do it again. SFTP is still getting our money, no matter if we get our pass at SFKK, SFGAm, SFSTL, etc, etc, etc.

I know that none of them do...but I guess my point is that none of the other park chains (Cedar Fair, Paramount, etc) have such a WIDE spread of prices...I mean, if you look at the SF chain, last years season pass at SFKK was $39.00 (I think that there was one park lower then that, but I don't remember), and SFGAm was charging $91. That's a difference of $52!!! I mean, I can see there being a difference of like $10, $15, or even $20 between parks...but $52?? That is just plain nuts. That is why myself (and probably others) look to go to other parks othen then their home park to get a SF Season Pass. If you look at it that way, why drive from Chicago to SFKK if all you are saving on the pass is $15? You would have spent that in gas down their and back. But, for $52, its worth it.
So, if the SF Chain were to bring all their parks season pass prices at least within $20 bucks of each other, that would be better then what we have now.

Similarly, people near SFGAm will pay 92 bucks for a pass, but perhaps people @ SFKK will not. Therefore, it makes no business sense for SFI to set a 'standard' price. The majority of Chi area folks will simply pay the high price. The small minority will go to a different park and pay a cheap price. But what has SFI lost? According to your sugesstion, everyone should be paying the cheap price anyway, so if even ONE person pays the 92, then that's just pure profit. They are still going to sell about the same number of passes either way (or make money on one day admissions). There's just no incentive.
Oh and you think they are going to make it *easy* for you to pay them less? that would be stupid. If you want a deal, you have to work for it!
