Six Flags Great America president Hank Salemi dies after extraordinary career

The theme park industry has taken a hit with the death Sunday of Charles "Hank" Salemi, president of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee. Industry colleagues, roller coaster afficionados, tourism and local officials were reeling from the loss of Salemi, who led Great America with flair.

Very pleasant man, sad to hear this.

Great America always seems to stand head and shoulders above the other Six Flags parks (last 2 decades at least) in nearly every category/variety of rides/employee friendliness. I think he played a big part in that.

When I think of exceptional Six Flags parks that don't fall into the stereotypical Six Flags mediocrity when it comes to operations and cleanliness, it's Great America and Fiesta Texas. Not surprisingly, those two parks have exceptional GMs.

Very sad to hear this news.
