Six Flags Great America 6-12-01 (long)

Associated parks:
None

I just got back from SFGAM with a fun filled action packed day. I rode all of the rollercoasters with minimal waits. I will review each one but first I would like to share what a person said while I was waiting in line for the rope drop for V2. "Man this place sucks it only has 12 rollercoasters man Cedar Point has like over 30." The two things amaze me about some the GP one they have heard of Cedar Point and two they thought a park could have over 30 rollercoasters. Oh well just thought I would add that with another comment the ride op for Iron Wolf tried to convince me that the ride was built in 1993 but I tried to tell him repeatly it was 1990 but there was no sense in getting in
an argument over it. On to the coaster reviews.

First ride V2. I was there for the rope drop and I ran to V2. It's almost like CP running of the bulls for Millennium Force. Well when I got there I found out they were have problems with it. I think it was the brakes but I'm not sure. I waited about 30 minutes until they opened the ride but it wasn't that bad because I talked to a V2 ride op named Chris who is a fellow Acer. We
talked about Timbersfest from last Saturday and other coasters. If your reading Chris it was nice to meet you. I waited for the front seat and liked V2. It was good but not great. I still like the RB and Viper but its a close
third.

Next I went to Iron Wolf and got last row with about 15 minute wait. It was somewhat rough but bareable. I like Iron Wolf becuase of its great ending and high intensity for a B&M.

On to the Eagle. I rode red side because it was the only side open. I waited about 25 minutes. Wow that retracking did wonders it has good airtime through out the ride compared to two years ago. Soft touch of the brakes for the first
helix/turnaround. But they had the final helix brakes on still pretty hard. Good news though they opened up the blue side later in the day and they have both blue trains running.

Next up the Demon. Two train operation with no wait. I love the new restraints I don't know I'm just getting taller or the restraints are set at a
different height becuase I had no headbanging because I head was above the OTSR. Also they are playing the music in the Tunnel which I don't remember them doing except for fright fest. I rode the back seat twice with great air off the first drop.

After checking out Deja Vu which seems to have still a lot of work to be done I went to Raging Bull. This was first time I got to ride the back seat. Holy Cow what a drop. The yank and floating air down the first drop. Now I understand why people say the back is the best on the bull. The only think I didn't like was the third hill had the brakes on little bit harder because I didn't get much floating air like I usually do. I rode twice in the back but
the last time I got stapled severely with about 10 minute wait with three train op. Also while I was going through the line one of the clean up workers yelled to me "Acers rule" I thought that was cool.

I then rode Viper one of my favorite wooden rollercoasters. I rode it twice with about 15 minute waits. Now I remember why Iove Viper its Great out of control standup airtime with tons of headchoppers.I had a great ride. You gotta love Viper.

Next I went on Whizzer classic but a goody. I love the low to ground turns and the woods really adds to the ride. One ride with about 10 minute wait with two train op. Also I have question about Whizzer the three side brakes on the
final brake run stop the train each time like they are running 5 trains shouldn't they redo the computer system so it only stops once for 2 train op?

After that I hit the great parking lot coaster Shockwave. Not bad rode the back twice still as intense as usual. No wait with two train op. I didn't have too much headbanging or roughness except for the midcourse turn.

After that I rode Batman just to round out the day with a 20 minute not to bad for Batman. I love the speed and intensity but I only wish it was longer but hey it was the original.

I had a great day at SFGAM and I hope you enjoyed the Trip Report.
Hey I was there today with my some friends. I wore a white Metallica shirt. He is in ACE and is going to CP tomorrow. I got 2 rides on Demon, 2 on Viper, 2 on Eagle, 2 on Wolf, 1 on Shockwave, 1 on V2, 5 on Batman and 8 on Raging Bull. The longest wait I had all day was 20 minutes for American Eagle. Didya see me?

I found it ironic how the same person yelled at you stapled you a few minutes later.

No you miss understood that. I meant to say one of the clean up workers in the que said Acers rule. But the ride op stapled me in the Station. Sorry I should of made myself more clear.
Actually, the "clean up worker" in the queue was a ride op, the very same one who stapled you in the station.

That is hilarious. People just don't understand that Ride Op's have to clean as well as run the rides. Sarcasm Rules.

Great point! About 2 weeks ago, we had a few trash receptacles overflowing throughout the queues. I happened to be the one who got sent down to change the garbage bags- which was fine, afterall, it needed to be done. Then this kid, probably about 13 or 14, who thought he was Mr. Macho comes up to me, and with the intent of showing off his "coolness" to his friends makes a comment. It was something like... "Man, you have a GREAT job. People like you are not appreciated like they should be. You keep this park looking wonderful...." All his "cool" friends were giggling. Afterall, that was VERY funny, dont ya think? Sorry I got carried away with that, just trying to back up the point. As ride op's @ the park in which I'm employed , it is the entire crew's responibility, and only the crew's responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of the ride, ride area, queues, etc. throughout the day.
