Six Flags Great Adventure Media Day 4/17/03

I just got back from a fun day a six flags great adventure! I was in the top 10 for the six flags search for heroes essay contest and got invited to come out and be the first to ride superman. I stayed their from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The wheather was cool and windy but not raining one drop. It was the perfect day if you never rode any of their coasters because the lines during the summer are crazy.I got in the park at around 9:15 a.m. and had to go the media day event and wait until they called my name.

As I waited I saw great amercian scream machine up and running, so I decide to take a ride. I still think this ride is doesn't have that much headbanging as people describe it. On the ride, my head banged against the headrest once and that was in the first corksrew. I rode it on more time after that and waited for the press.

After six flags gave me my awards, I rode superman: ultimate flight along with the other 32 riders including mankind. It was everything I thought it would be.The pertzel loop was so intense, that I almost held on. This is way better than x-flight! After our ride, we could ride superman again without the crowds that where at the park already. I would've rode again, but I wanted to ride something else.

Next was Batman: the ride. Man was this a good ride! I didn't have to wait in a single line expect for a the front which was about 5 min.
After that, I was going to ride Nitro but it wasn't open, so I went to ride skull mountain. Skull mountain was ok. It just adds another count to my list.

Medusa was my next extreme coaster to ride. I never thought I would ever get to ride this without the 2 hour wait. I rode it 3 times in a row and by the end of the day, the total was 11 times.

Next was Batman&Robin: the chiller. Robin was the only side that was working so I was a little mad, but who cares when you don't have to wait over a hour to ride a 20-30 sec. ride!
This was awesome! I rode it in 2001 once with fastlane and I like it. Today when I rode it I loved it. The zero-g roll was awesome going forward and backwards. I rode it 12 times by the end of the night!
Now Nitro was up and running. I rode it and it is still my number #1 steel coaster. The airtime and speed was great. I just wish it was rerides so I could ride it again and again and again! I rode it 2 times cause they were running only one train and I didn't want to wait longer.
Rolling thunder looked like a brand new coaster. It was a little rough but not rough enough to ride again. I rode once because I was heading back to Superman. The park looked like no one ever new that six flags exist! I'm glad it was like that today so I could ride more than twice.

How many rides I had on one coaster:
Scream Machine:2
Rate: 4 1/2 out of 5

Superman: Ultimate Flight: 3
Rate: 5 out of 5

Batman: The ride: 10
Rate: 5 out of 5

Batman&Robin: The chiller: 12
Rate: 4 1/2 out of 5

Medusa: 11
Rate: 5 out of 5

Nitro: 2
Rate: 5 out of 5

Skull mountain: 1
Rate: 2 1/2 out of 5

Runaway train: 1
Rate: 3 1/2 out of 5

Rolling thunder: 1
Rate: 4 out of 5

Overall I had a good time. The lines were not long, I got alot of re-rides, I met mankind again and Ottis Anderson and the park was clean. Superman broke down twice while I was in line. Not a good start for opening day. The first time was because of the sencond train but I waited in line and I rode in the front while everyone else ran to catch up with me. The sencond time it broke down, I had just got off my third ride of superman and was getting ready to get in line again when the train got stuck on the lift. It stayed that way for the rest of the day, so I got the last ride of the day. The chicken and french fries from granny's kitchen was good but not worth 6-7 dollars and you don't get a drink included. I was hungry so I just bought it anyway. The ride operators were good on all the coasters expect superman and nitro. on the first ride of superman, I had to wait like 10 minute before we came back into the station. It not a good feeling hangind on a restraint like that. They could have ran two trains on Nitro so no one could have long wait. Medusa and Batman ran two trains so why couldn't they do it on nitro? Also I don't know why, but as I was riding batman: the ride in the third to the last row train, I got an unexpected amount of airtime in the last corksrew. I was shocked so I rode again and got the same thing in it. I guess it was only for the first two times because after that, I didn't get anymore extra airtime. O well, my rating for my good day was a 9 1/2 out of 10. Thw whether was the only draw back.
