Six Flags Great Adventure 8/3

Associated parks:
None

Me and my friends left my house around 3:30 and got there around 4:30. We parked in the season pass lot and took a look a the new coaster supports. I was supprised because the supports looked smaller than they looked online. After that we went on our way to the park. We saw Rolling Thunder go by and man was that thing running slow.

When we got in we decided to go hit Rolling Thunder since it was in the area. After a 10 minute wait we decided to ride in the back. Now this was the first time i rode this ride for the year and was supprised to see they added seatbelts. The crew seemed to moved fast though and the operator was very cheerful giving us a big yeeehaw on the way out. The lift hill was extremely slow and seemed to go on forever. But holly crap the ride itself was not. That must have been the fastest and smoothest this ride has ever run. I was actually getting airtime and not having my arse hurt at the same time. The third hill after the turnaround must have been the best airtime moment I have ever had on any rollercoaster. Overal I would give the ride an 8/10. Its still not as good as rides like Phoenix but can definatly compete with Great White now.

Alright well after that we decided to hit Superman because my friend has not ridden it yet and wanted to. We got in line and it didnt look that bad because only the first set of lines was filled up. But man was I wrong. That must have been the slowest moving line I have been in ever. But it then got worse, the closer you got to the ride the louder the music got they were playing. It was not good music either, it was techno and the songs never ended. I felt like i was tying to be hypnotised because everything sounded the same. Owel, after an hour and a half wait we finally got on. The ride was kinda cool but definatly not worth the wait. Overal the ride was a 6/10.

Next we decided to get some dinner at Nathans. Man this place is awesome. The food there is great and the air conditioning really helped because it was so humid out.

Next we went over to Nitro. The huge shade over the line looks kinda funny but serves its purpose well. I was relieved when i didnt see a dj in the both too. We waited about 45 minutes and took the back row seat. The fisrt drop was pretty fun and the helix had me seeing stars but the rest of the ride didnt really deliver for me. The ride was only a 7/10 for me.

After that we hit Skull Mountain since it was in the area. We waited about 15 minutes and got the back row seat. The first drop was really good and gave alot of airtime but the rest of the ride was boring. I give it a 5/10.

We then walked along the lakefront to Medusa. That area of the park is very peacefull and enjoyable. The popcorn smell alongthe way is great too.

When we got to Medusa we hoped in line and waited around 30 minutes. Again we hit the back row seat and noticed that the back of the seats look like a rhinoceros. Anyway the ride was pretty fun if you like inversions but im more of an airtime person so i didnt get as much from the ride.I would say 7/10.

The time we stayed there was pretty fun and the park seeme to be improving with its staff from the previous times I have been there. There were more rides open than before except in the childrens area and the park was cleaner too. I would give the park an 8/10 for the day and I hope they keep up the good work.

((Falls off chair))

What!! You gave that miserable excuse for wood an 8, and give Nitro a 7?? Somebody please pass the hysop.

Glad you had fun though. I guess the DJ thing is new. I wonder if they take requests. I would sure love to hear the Christina Milian song while in line......but then again it's a lil' PG13 :)

Fate is the path of least resistance.

Nitro a 7? It must have had a wheel locked up or something. I thought that the air in the back seat, or any seat for that matter, was great. Magnum like air with B&M smoothness. To each his own I guess. Glad you had a good time.

#1 Steel: Sky Rush
#1 Wood: Voyage
#1Park: Holiday World

Yeah you suck, NITRO OWNS YOU!!

Thanks for the TR, fmk....always nice to hear about the park I used to go to as a kid...(soon after the Big Bang)....;)

I had heard that RT got *better* this year...THAT much better, I dunno...

Nyquil MAY be a snoozefest, but I still prefer it over anything in the park 'cept Chilla...Medusa is decent, but it's no S:KC, that much is certain....

Hearing about enthusiastic ops at GAdv, that should make national news...:)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

in 2 trips this year i kinda had a feeling the ops actually were trying to have some fun doing their jobs this year. rather than just rushing you on and off the rides.
wow, we stopped at SFGAdv on our way home from King's Dominion, since we have season passes and it was on the way. Same day, got there around the same time. Not sure we were at the same park though. We waited an hour for Batman and an hour for Nitro (dj in the booth). The park was super packed, the ride ops were miserable, the lines crawled along. I remembered why I usually wait til Sept to hit that park. Glad you had a good time though! :)
Maybe rolling thunder knocked something lose. After all it was his first ride of the day! :>)

Thanks,
DMC
