Six Flags Great Adventure 6/26 - Too Hot!

Associated parks:
None

Got to the park at about 11:45 with our group and was about 90 degrees already, and we had to wait for the leader to get to the park so we could get our tickets. We finally got in at about 12:30. When we got in, our group went to Nitro. Nitro was running a 3 train operation with fast ops, so the line was only about 15 minutes. I got second row, left seat, great ride as usual. Overall Ride: 9/10 After, we headed over to Forest Frontiers. Since Runaway Mine Train didnt really have a line, and one of the members of the group had never been to Great Adventure before, we went on it. Smoother than I remember, but the seats are still extremely uncomfortable. Overall Ride: 4/10 After the ride, went over to the "future construction zone" over by the Western Star Arena. (where the rumored coaster of 2004 is going to go, some good land to build it on.) After, we headed over to Medusa, had about a 45 minute wait, probably due to a breakdown right before we got there and really slow ops. Got second row, inner right seat. Overall Ride: 7/10 Got off, headed over to Rolling Thunder. Had about a 10 minute wait, got yellow train, front seat. Great Adventure definitly needs new wood, although this provided some good airtime. (So much that the kid sitting next to me almost flew out) After, we headed over to the food court by Bugs Bunny Land and had some food. (I had nachos, not the best thing to have on a 100 degree day) Then we headed over to Superman. The queue wasnt all bad (They had the sprinklers on! It kept me cool for the rest of the queue, not a bad idea. The also had a couple of security guards patroling the line. Finally get into the station, went for last row, and two trains before we got on, it broke down. There was something wrong with car 8 on train 1. (Before it broke down, the ops had a hook thing and were moving something in the back of car 8 when the train went into flying position. Anyway, they had to put it into the shed to fix it. Never saw a transfer track in action, cool stuff.) B&M needs a new inversion for flyers, but I'm sure they have something on the drawing board. Since one of our group members got sick (not from any rides, probably from heat exuahstion) So while he was getting better, we went on Scream Machine. Smoother than before, but still hurt my neck on it. After, we headed back over to Movietown, hit that HUSS Frisbee on the way, and went on Stuntman's Freefall. Since all the lines were to long, and we had to leave soon, we decided to do our souvinier shopping. Overall, the day was fun, but not as fun as my trip back in April. It was too hot, and the price of bottled water is too high there. It was also extremely crowded. (I have never seen it that crowded) Fun day, but I wished it rained :)

If it was hot, you should have ridden the Chiller, with that nice air conditioned queue... :)

I wouldn't hold my breath for a coaster in 2004 though. Superman isn't enough?

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

That's the same way weatherwise as it was when I went to Dorney and Hershey. The heat without a nice wind or rain can bring down the day little, so the cloudy day at SFGAdv was my favorite day of the trip. Their coaster collection is the best of any park I've been to, so I don't think they need another one next year at all. I've heard rumors about an Intamin Impulse and drop tower going in when I went (the B&M Dive Machine rumor is sooo made-up), so you never know. It would be nice, but Superman, Nitro, The Chiller, Medusa, and Viper is enough to keep me going back again and again. Now if they wanted new wood, they should go for it! RT is probably one of the worst woodies I've been on.

Think about that... I think Rolling Thunder should recieve some lovin' before the park even thinks of new wood.

Good thing you didn't by bottled water, thatis the ultimate rip off esspecailyl in parks, you could have just brought one from home and refilled it all day with drinking fountains or at a resturarunt.
