Six Flags Geauga Lake

Associated parks:
None

Today we stopped by Six Flags Geauga Lake to get our passes processed and ride a few rides. Whoa, the pictures look crappier than last year. We entered the park around 4 and headed straight for my second favorite ride of the park: Big Dipper.

The Line was out of the que. What the heck. One train running, how pleasant. I wasn't gonna let the HALF HOUR wait for Big Dipper ruin my time on it. Back seat was awesome like usual. I did my little "ride enhancer" down some of the hills but still the best part of the ride is the 'turn and drop onto the pine trees of death'(TM).

Then we headed off to Batman. Wow another long wait. I don't care, I haven't ridden it since October. While waiting in line, three homies in front of me decided they were going to smoke up some cigars. Very pleasant of course. So when we got up the very genius part of the que where the very front of the entrance of the que meets up with the que where folks have been waiting for 30 min meets up, our little homies did something to make me really mad. They tried to pick up some ladies by letting (and I counted) EIGHTEEN GIRLS CUT. I was really steamed but realized nothing would have been done aboot it because, well frankly, if they don't have enough staff to run coasters properly, how can I expect them to control the crowd? So I just pushed in front of the mess and was followed by 2 couples behind me. I didn't say anything cause I wasn't looking for a fight (these kids were) but a lady that followed me did say something.

Anyway I can blow stuff off pretty easily and my bro and I got in back row. I will have to say, this is only one of 2 B&Ms that I have ridden that isn't 'sissy'(FIRE being the other-I still haven't written my IOA TR, DAH!). This is how they all should be. No crappy pacing with graceful moves. Batman slams into turns and lets you see the ground in the loop. The second half of the ride is bone rattling and the last half-helix deal is super sweet. No grace in this ride. Just how I like em.

Then we decided to head over to the 'Wild Life' side. Hey, what do you know, its Sea World. If anyone knows, I don't care very much for Sea World. We headed for The Triangle since I have not 'ridden' it yet. 30 min wait.

Mission: Who the Heck Messed Up on this Ride? (TM). This was the only ride dissapointment of the day. I think I am used to Star Tours or something. Since it was Sea World, we headed back.

We went to Villain. The line was normal, by the pop machines. We had some fun in line and went to the back seat. I got the 'new restraints' and they were an improvement, but nothing to write home aboot. The new tracking on the second hill is an improvement and I give claps to SF for doing this. Villain is one of those coasters that is fun, but it just doesn't have that Top 10 (maybe even 15) material. Its enjoyable, but it doesn't have everything a woodie should have. The best part is still the drop off midcourse. (Hey whadda ya know, trains only sat on the brake run for 30 seconds!!!!!)

After that we ran over to Suzy real quick and the line was visible from the entrance (not a good sign). We waited 40 minutes and sat towards the back. Still a fun ride. My brother says the ride is bumpy but I don't think so. Still the best part is the straight spike. I still think they should have put another Susan right next to it and had them duel.

It was getting late and it was time to go to the Furthermore/TheDingees/Calibretto13/AceTroubleshooter/SlickShoes concert.

I walked out with a smile on my face. However, let me say this once againe to anyone who has never been to SFGL and thinks that they will be 'victorious' in the region for a great coaster line up: "Six Flags Geauga Lake will never, ever be in the same league as Cedar Point."(TM) I am not trying to start a flame war, so don't do your little politically correct whining. X-Flight in a few more weeks!

Americana looked wonderful with the new lights. Its little things like this which makes the park more enjoyable.

Villian is BY FAR, the best wood in Ohio. By
glancing at yout track record, I have a hard
time swallowing the fact that you may rank
ten or fifteen woodies higher than Villian.
Hmm, perhaps your one of the Gerstlauer
train haters? Or, maybe your a big fan of
the timid, graceful GCI's? Or you're a big
steel fan? Perhaps a homer for CP/PKI?
I dunno..i just don't understand your
ranking of Villian. It ''doesn't have
everything a woodie should have.''
What is it missing?!

"Six Flags Geauga Lake will never, ever be in the same league as Cedar Point."

Operations-wise, perhaps you are correct.
Customer service has never been a SF
cornerstone. Now, if you're talking rides,
SURELY you jest! :)

Top 10 or 15 out of steel and wood. I agree, Villain is my second favorite wood in Ohio (I like Big Dipper better), but I prefer other coasters over Villain. Sure its a fun ride, but the GCI I rode (Wildcat) wasn't graceful at all. My woods would rank something like this:

1. BOSS
2. Wildcat
3. Big Dipper
4. Comet (HP)
5. Screamin' Eagle (SFStL)
6. Lightning Racers
7. Villain

The rest just fall wherever.

Wait, so now Villian has midcourse brakes?

No, no midcourse brakes. It has three trains (one wasn't around though) but for this season, only two will be run at a time.

Batman ran beautifully all day despite a few times it did stack. All the queues were filled and me and my friends were on in twenty minutes.

Mission: Who the Heck Messed Up on this Ride? (TM). This was the only ride dissapointment of the day.

Should have done Pirates - very, very cool.

"Six Flags Geauga Lake will never, ever be in the same league as Cedar Point."

And I don't want it to. What we don't need is another Cedar Point. Let SFWoA stand on it's own for once and stop trying to compare it to CP. I was very impressed with the park and hope that SF continues the way the park operated on Saturday.

Besides, SFWoA's woodies are better than CP's.

Villain's my third favorite wood in Ohio. Ranking:

1)SOB
2)The Beast
3)Villain
4)The Racer
5)Big Dipper
6)Raging Wolf Bobs
7)Blue Streak
8)Beastie
9)Mean Streak

I'm a PKI guy, but I don't think that interfere's with my judgements. I may tie Villain with Beast, but SOB is nuts and I love it! I just wish they would fix the damn trains(lap bar sides, floor)!

Good TR punk. You didn't get to ride ST, RWB, or DL did you? Just wondering about the lines. Did X-Flight look nice. It doesn't look bad in placement does it. I hope it doesn't ruin the skyline. Was SW side busy? I really hope it's successful.

PKI-Wooden, Helix, and Kiddie Coaster Capital of the World!
And I LOVE CP, so Get Up Out of My Azz About It! :)
To answer KoasterKing:

I don't normally ride anything else in the park besides Villain, Batman, Susan, Big Dipper, and Texas Twister. DL looked aboot 15 minutes, RWB looked aboot 25 minutes and I didnt even bother w/ ME and ST. X-Flight is WAY out in front of the park much like Shockwave at SFGAm but stuck out more. I can't wait to ride it, it looks fun but a little short. The barrel rolls look intense.

Yeah, that guy is an idiot. He wouldn't know a nice day at the park if it hit him square in the nose. That's okay though, by calling it "Geauga Lake" he probably expects no waits in lines like it used to be when it wasn't a world class contender. You say it's not world class? Hmm, only park like it in THE WORLD. You make me laugh!
SWoAForever... yo... calm down. Getting cut in line is enough to piss off anyone. Besides, he clearly stated that he enjoyed his day!

While it WoA may be the only park "like it in THE WORLD", that only means it's unique, not necessarily world-class. Have you ever seen it ranked one of the top parks? no. It's never made the top 5. We'll see how it does in future years.

In the meantime, don't lash out at people when you have no real reason to do so.
SFWoAForever:

First of all, I don't appreciate your IGNORANCE. Second, I don't appreciate you insulting me. GandC, thanks by pointing it out how you are not supposed to act here. For you information SFWoAForever I live 40 minutes from the park and have visited the park twice every year for the past 15 of my life (including 10 last year). I do not hate the park. I just realize that it doesn't have the ability to be a world class place no matter what anyone might say. Sure, it may have great rides (and it does), but rides do not make a world class park. I was just stating the obvious. Take your insults somewhere else.

I'm going there in the morning, so I hope it's better, security-wise than what Punk has written. And BTW, Punk: Are you from Canada and say 'about' different than us?...it gets a little annoying after a while to read, but hey, do what you got to do.

Onto another topic: If SFWoAForever is a TRUE Coasterbuzzer, where is his track record and information? I would just like to see how he knows so much about our little world on the net. So with this in mind, I have three things to remedy this...
1) He must have not read the posts from Jeff (and others) in the last month about "reading into messages and rebutting without thinking". Or "taking posts personally, then remarking in ad hoc (blasting a person on opinion alone)." Please, read what you write before posting. This has saved me many brawls on the site. And if someone would have attacked YOU like you did Punk, then it feels pretty crappy, doesn't it?
2) I have grown out of that stage on this website, thank goodness....and in time, you will do the same, SFWoAForever. Please, do not allow your age to show your IQ. You are an intellegent and mature being, and you will act this way in time.
3) I WILL have fun tomorrow at SFWOA, no matter what...it's my first coaster trip of the season. Thus, pissing wars on MY favorite site is ridiculous.

Thanks for you time and ride with your hair on fire. :)
Nope, not a Canuck here. I just say aboot because they can say aboot (I have been to Canada many times). I also love South Park: The Movie. I am located 40 minutes from SFGL and 90 minutes from The Point.
