Six Flags GADV Nitro in the news

I was just watching channel 6 news and they had a chopper over Nitro. They stated that the coaster was stuck due to a computer glitch. They said several riders were removed and the ride was shut down. But the problem was fixed and the coaster was reopened a short time later.

I saw the video and the train wasn't even 1/4 of the way up the lift hill. What a waste of news. If they went to a park every time a coaster was stuck. No wonder coasters have a bad rap. Image if Fox News got a hold of this. Was anyone at the park today?

Thanks,

I guess it was a slow news day. Were there any stories about people getting stuck on the u-turn on the right side of the road to go left or did anyone out of state try to pump their own gas? ;)

Man it that a really stupid thing for the media to waste their time on....now if it had vallied somewhere as opposed to a probable block violation on the lift that would be different but this is totally stupid.

Man the local media here in the DC area would've had a field day reporting on stuck rides at SFA last saturday because S:ROS got stopped on the lift at least 3 times during the course of the day & unfourtunatly for me I was stuck in line for it each & every time it happened.

Chopper must have been there already to see Ashanti and especially Frank from Trading Spaces. ;)
Crap Frank was there!! POOP!! Frank is my hero! NOT!!

All these GADV things are getting me nervous. :) Before I read the post I thought something serious had happened. Somebody needs to find some better news, what a waste of a chopper.
What's funny is that (at least in the Southeast) the media is alerted to a lot of these "ride stuck" stories by "ethusiasts" who are in the park - they call in using their cell phones like it's a big thing and depending on how slow a news day it is determines whether a crew is dispatched.

And often when the media get there the situation is over and there is no news to report.

Here is the news link. They finally put it up.

That WAS a waste of news.

There are only 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who dont.
This is the sort of hard-hitting news that more agencies should report. I'm tired of all the useless talk about presidential elections when there are rides getting stuck in places with stairs for the riders to evacuate.

But a ride getting stuck on a lifthill is NOT a safety hazard! You can and often do walk down the stair in such a event. It may be a different story if the ride got stuck on a loop or a hill in the middle of the ride where there are no stairs to walk down on. This was definately a waste of new especially at only 50' up.
Or even worse...Imagine if CNN got it too! :-)
In other news today riders on the Nitro roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure were not so amused as there coaster went through 62 loops but failed to make it up the 467ft lift hill at the end of the ride. Riders were left dangling by there under-ware as rescue works for 14 of the 50 states were flown in to help with the rescue. One rider who was later identified as Ralph Johnson said " This was the best coaster I've ever ridden. However after todays evens I will be suing and renaming the park Ralph's Pleasure Palace.

GRRRR!!

In other news, grammar and spelling standards for newscasters have been drastically reduced.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Andy, you've been reading the Daily News too, huh? :)

It must have been a slow day, they actually dispatched a helicopter for that. And people complain about gas prices.
