Six Flags Fiesta Texas celebrates 25 years, started as a quarry

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is in full swing during the park's 25th anniversary celebration, but before the roller coasters, shows and bustling boardwalk, the area was just an empty quarry on the outskirts of San Antonio.

This is a real gem in the Six Flags chain, setting-wise. The coaster selection is pretty good and the other ride selection is also above average, but the quarry setting is just amazing. Iron Rattler and S:KC would be half the coasters they are without the neat interactions with the terrain.

Agreed. This is a park that is worth seeing, just to see how the quarry wall makes the setting.

Not to mention the great shows, my personal favorite being fantastically cheesy laser/firework show that celebrates all things Texas. My favorite SF park by far.

Plus the park has arguably the best GM in the chain. He needs to be the CEO.
