Six Flags Empty?

The only Six Flags park I've ever been to is WoA, but I was just looking up some stats and pics of SFMM and SFA and SFDL and noticed that a lot of their rides seem like they're in the middle of nowhere. WoA doesn't totally have this problem because they used to be Geauga Lake, but I'm used to Kennywood and Cedar Point where its virutally impossible to have as much empty "brown" land around the coasters as some of these rides seem to have. Is there really that much less ... for lack of a better word, clutter in the Six Flags parks that there aren't flat rides and food stalls and walkways all jammed in, through and right up against all the coasters?

I can say that none of the rides at Magic Mountain are in the middle of nowhere. Most of the rides at Magic Mountain are in the middle of another ride's area. Some parks are very spaced out like the back of SFA, which you probably were looking at, Batwing in the middle of a weed field(I think Six Flags has planted all those weeds for theming ;)) Darien Lake isn't very compact and is quite open compared to other Six Flags parks but has it's share of thrills. I want to complain that Six Flag's parks are getting to squished up. Have you taken a look at SFNE or SFMW? So tight you can hardly breath. SFMM and SFGAdv are getting packed from wall to wall. I'm worried about what will happen to Jazzland and Enchanted Village, two parks that are quite small in area that may soon become compressed.

Yea just looking at SFNE from the Superman pics, it looks packed like CP or Kennywood (more my style ... I like everything close together)

Of the SF's that you mentioned, I have only been to SFA and I can tell you that prior to Premier buying Sf's, the park was very small and had a compact layout (the Wild One was actually the back of the park, with the exception of the picnic grove). Since Premier bought SF, they have taken advantage of the additional (previously unused) land and made most of their additions back there (which is now the "Gotham City" section). Since they have so much "extra" space back there, they are spreading out their additions. It makes for a lot of walking (especially to get to Batwing), but they are probably doing it to spread out the park and keep it from feeling over-crowded. I am sure that over time, you will see a lot more flat ride and other additions filling in around those seemingly empty area's.

Happy Coastering!

You know, this may very well be the first time I've seen "packed" used to describe "Cedar Point" in terms of layout. Crowds, on the other hand...

You can see how jam packed Six Flags New England is herr

Marine World has done a fair share of advancing into the parking lot area

Astroworld is getting pretty crowded

Then there is Elitch Gardens, which can be describe in one word...PACKED

Try looking at Great America as well

Dang Six Flags, let Magic Mountain breath!!!

On the other hand, Lake Compounce is teensy weensy and though they have dozens of undeveloped land behind them, it is mostly mountain and they need the dough re mi to build something on it. You'll see here a long line(Boulder Dash) that runs along the side of the lake. At the very end is a white cluster(Thunder Rapids), now you see why they have a trolley to get you from the main part of the park to the river rapids and Sky Ride. Now, they own all that unused land, tell what you see going along there?
