Six Flags draws suitors in auction, but not Snyder

Posted | Contributed by Joey Stewart

Six Flags Inc. has received takeover interest from about three dozen prospective buyers, but dissident shareholder Dan Snyder, seeking to increase his stake, has not entered the auction to buy the entire theme park operator, sources familiar with the situation said on Monday.

The idea of cf buying out parks is a possibiliy, but i still think the whole chain would kinda be better off suited for the other parks or franchises to divy(sp) amongst one another. I think the regional idea should be put into effect, but most chains besides cf with regional chains would not work, because for the most part paramount/cbs, which is true by the way, coming from a park enployee at pki, has parks all over. Busch has a solid southern hold i would say, but just really two parks. The problem is its way to hard for that, and cf monopolizing wouldnt make sense after the problems six flags has had by buying out too many parks. So i think if it were to be anything it could be regional, or have six flags keep regional areas of parks, under the six flags name. Its hard but at least it would be easier for you to park hop for once, as long as you have the pass. Cf has that mentality in the midwest, i cant see them going farther than getting six flags maybe in texas and Great America. That would have to be their intrest.

Snyder is a money grubbing SOB. Not son of Beast. Although he does give the industry headaches.*** This post was edited by MagnunBarrel 10/11/2005 8:59:57 PM ***

One has to wonder just how many of SF's parks he's actually been to if he thinks that killing Mr. Six and making "safe, clean fun" will solve the chain's problems.

My guess is not too many or at least not the right ones to realize the huge customer service issues that exsist.

*praying for Cedar Fair to buy*
with $2.1 billion in debt, I doubt that they would, and I really would hate for CF to buy the chain...

...that said, I wouldn't mind a couple choice parks. If they bought GAdv, then that'd be only 1 season pass I'd have to buy :) (Even if they market it cimilar to GL/CP)

"Getting rid of Mr. 6 is a horrible idea. It's the first marketing campaign that's really worked for SFI in a long time. Like it or not, he represents brand recognition. Think Nike and the swoosh stripe. Think McDonald's and the yellow arches. "

Your absolutely right. Companies spend years and hundreds of millions of dollars to achieve what was done with Mr. Six. An Icon of brand recognition that still has many years of life in him. To ditch him would be a HUGE error.

:"Safe, clean fun" is a GREAT slogan...for a bottle of Bubble Bath!
A friend and I were talking last night if SFI were to sale SFKK...and Cedar Fair bought it. Could make things interesting in that neck of the woods between HW, PKI, and whatever CF would rename and do to SFKK. Yeah I know it's only a pipe dream, but a fun one!

I was thinking it sounded more like a good slogan for some Vegas brothel! "Come on in, our women provide Safe Clean Fun!"

Does anyone else here think that Mr Six looks like the late Swifty Lazaar?
