Six Flags declines option to buy Marine World

Six Flags says it's backing out but still intends to exercise its purchase option for Marine World before February 2007. Vallejo owns the park, while Six Flags runs it, under a 10-year deal. Company officials cited financial issues and uncertainty over a proposed redevelopment of the neighboring Solano County Fairgrounds.

Right now it seems that SF made a wise choice in withholding their option to purchase SFMW,they need to fix the problems they've got with all their existing parks before tackling yet another challenge.

After selling the European division as well as the Ohio park it clearly sends the message that SFI just doesn't have the financial resources or desire to assume management & ownership of yet another park,I think they're slowly(emphasis on slowly here)realizing that they aqquired way too many parks to begin with in 99 & don't have the funding needed to successfully manage what they've already got.

Oh well, at least there's still hope in 2007. As long as SF doesn't decide to jump ship and take my 7 looper beema and kick arse GCI with them if they decide to bail before then.

Parking at MW is pretty ridiculous. On most midsummer weekend days, parking anytime after 11 is in the fair grounds lot and is a pain in the booty.
I think it has to do with the wildlife side of the operation. They have discovered how expensive it is. But since they don't own the operation they can't discreetly downsize the animal population. Quite frankly I think they are holding onto the option so that the posibility of Busch coming is negliable. I don't know of anyone else that would have the credentials to operate the park.
