Six Flags Confirms Plans to Sell 2 More Parks

Like others have already mentioned, you can count SFMW out of the list. Last I heard, SF's management contract with SFMW was extended to the year 2007 at which point SF will again have the option to buy the park or not.

Since SFMW is known as one of the higher operational profit parks of the chain (they can thank me and my friends for all the hundreds of beers we've bought over the years!), the current arrangement is very benefitial for both parties involved. SF would be wise to buy the park in 2007, but neither party seems in any particular rush at this time to close any deal. So worse case senario, SF bails out of the management deal next year and either The City of Vallejo hires someone else, or just runs the park on their own as they did before Premier/SF came into the picture.

Hmm guys.. a park not mentioned yet or one that is hardly ever mention: Six Flags Mexico. You think it could get the axe? What about La Ronde too?
I get the impression those parks make quite a profit.

Like Moosh said, it could be the parks you least expect. A big park with big attendance might make less money (or no money at all) when compared to a small park with small attendance.

Good point. The larger the park, the larger the costs to run the park. Even if their yearly attendance is the largest in the chain, if it doesn't meet their needs and pay for their debt, they very well could close down.

Mexico and La Ronde are both unique to the chain, in markets where they are pretty much a guaranteed success.

If either would go, I would say Mexico, especially since La Ronde is getting a nice new beemer next year.

But SFM got a hyper last year so the company has been investing there as well. I see both parks staying because they operate in markets where there really isn't much competition.
I do not think great adventure will be sold.

Maybe some land around it will be sold and the safari taken out but not gadv.

Sfmm I dont thin keither. That just needs better atmosphre and other things.

During the summer gadv is packed during the weekends. IF they just work on small things at that park it would be even betetr. ITs got the coasters all ready just needs flats and customer support(even though last year was a big improvement).

Great Adventure will not be sold. There is a lot of business there and also a lot of potential. And being in a part of the state where development isn't out of control, I don't think the sale of the land would yield what the company would hope.

Well after see the number in my stock holders report and going to a few of tghe stock holders meeting, you might guess that the heavy hitter park are safe. List falls.
1. SFGreatAM
2.& 3. SFMM & SFGreat AD
4. SFOT
5. SFOG
6. SFA
7. SFSTL
8. SFNE
9. SFFT
The others fall on down.

Any chance you can post up those numbers? Not being a stock holder, I've yet to see them anywhere and would love to see how the parks compare with one another.

As for SFM, last I heard they pulled in something like 2.3 million guests in 2005 making them one of the top SF parks (attendance wise), so I'd guess that it's pretty safe.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Interesting that SFFT makes the list. It really is not surprising and out of all the parks i have been to in the chain, is one of the few in the excellent park category.

I really thought SFKK made a decent profit. Guess not.

But we all know that SFKK is safe as well. Hmmmmm...

I have no idea where cycloneriders got that list. The stockholders annual report does not list attendence figures for individual parks.

And what does "list falls" mean?

I think he meant the list follows.

A day at the park is what you make it!

yes I meant list follows, and I got the list from one of the stock holder meetings. It was a hand out. It's one thing that if you do attend meeting you can get info, Infact about 5 years ago I did get to sit in on a ride placement meeting when Gary Story was in the head office. That was one really fun meeting! not! *** Edited 2/2/2006 5:46:41 PM UTC by cycloneriders***
The stock holder meetings are held in Ny right?

I own stock in Six Flags and have never been to one. I think i should start going lol

Nope at least when other people where in office they moved it around to host parks for the meetings.
