Six Flags Bonus Weekends?

All year long though you can get discount Six Flags tickets, here in the south you could buy them for $15 off at Krogers and Fiesta (during Fright Fest, Astroworld discount grocery store tickets were $23). You never really have to pay full admission for Six Flags unless you're clueless enough to walk up to the gate and buy a ticket.

They were running BR:TC @ SFGRADV this past weekend? I thought that all the premier rides coasters were supposed to be closed at this time of the season due to the fact that they don't run very well in the cold weather.

Perhaps maybe SFA has some reason other than cold temps for not running JJ during frighfest, especially when it ran just fine during frightfest in the 99 season.

Robin was open when we went to Great Adventure two weeks ago, but Batman was not. You probably won't see Joker's Jinx open during Fright Fest ever again. I was told this was becuase they have to increase the launch speed, making for a rougher ride. As my Mom always said, "The park's not going anywhere, it'll be there next year."

Getting to talk with the GM certainly didn't hurt things....SFoG, still the best in the chain for employees...

Are you kidding me? SFoG consistently has some of the *worst* employees I've ever seen at any park! I mean Odum is awesome, and a lot of the supervisors do a great job, but the entry level position people are downright bad. Unprofessional, unsafe, impolite. They started the year off okay, and just went to the crapper in June and stayed that way until the end of the season.

Believe me, I had to bite my tongue at that ACE get together. I couldn't believe how people were saying that SFoG had "good" ride ops! I was wondering which SFoG they were talking about.

I wouldn't say their ride ops were fast in any way...but they ARE pretty friendly. I'm comparing them to most of the SF parks I've been to (SFKK, SFA, SFGAdv, SFMM, SFWoA). SFKK improved a lot this year IMO, but they've ALL had staff that I thought of as more unfriendly. I don't exactly *expect* HW everywhere I go, but a little bit of that never hurts my feelings...and even though the ops were bored and slow, for the most part they did smile. I certainly didn't SEE anything I considered unsafe or rude on the part of the employees...

Gotta admit, the single-training on S:UF didn't exactly excite me, but the ops themselves DO get bored to tears by the single-training, and DO get considerably slower in dispatching when there's no other train coming in...am I right in recollecting the only coasters NOT running one were the mine train (2) and DV (0)? Of course, I *do* get a bit annoyed when parks run ONE train on the newest, latest, baddest, (and *seemingly obviously*) the BUSIEST ride....not the op's fault there, though....

Actually Sam Marks was saying on rrc that it was because of the noise and less of a noise buffer for SFA's residential neighbors because the leaves are falling. But if you look at the aerial photo on Mapqest, it looks like there are plenty of trees to me that should act as a bufer.

As someone who's done his share of outdoor rock shows, I can tell you unequivocally that leaves aren't going to make much of a difference in the sound level of a ride such as Joker's Jinx. If you've ever heard Joker's Jinx or The Chiller for example, you know that it's impossible to speak to someone. The sound you hear is comprised of all frequencies, including low ones. That's why you hear a car with subs "arriving" long before the vehicle actually passes in front of your house. It's possible the leaves might cut the high end, but I can't imagine by much. Plus, they have that huge grassy mound (burm?) in front of the ride for sound reduction.

Agreed but I don't know how much the grassy mound helps either. The sound is at it's worst at the top of the ride. I say buy the adjacent houses and use them for the international season staff until the park needs to expand.

I dunno about the "not running in the cold weather part" but I'll tell you it certainly seemed like they jacked up the speed for the thing. It was pretty fierce. Unless the cold weather was affecting my perception....
